At Christmas there’s a lot of pressure to be perfect and have it all. We see adverts showing happy families in matching PJs, huge piles of expensive presents, nobody is having a drunken row, grieving for a loved one, struggling with finding money for their Christmas dinner or feeling lonely in these adverts.

Just back from one of our best stays at the villa - 17 days of glorious high 20s sunshine. The only clouds on the horizon were the Xylella which has spread to some of our olive trees, and someone, (Giuseppe says a guest), cutting out a big section of a flower bed, which cost us 2 days of our holiday and over 200 Euros to put right, someone deciding to rearrange my kitchen and put out all of our best crockery, and other guests leaving chemical burn marks on our o***m table. It is heartbreaking when guests treat our house with such disrespect.
But - we are happy with what we have done with the flower bed, I’ve put my kitchen back as it was, and the tree man is cutting all our trees back and treating them biologically to prevent further damage. On top of that we already have guests booked for next Summer (but will be much more vigilant as to the state of the house and garden when they leave).

Our first visit of the year has come to an end. It has been hard work, very hot, and we didn't manage every job we wanted to do, but are pleased with what we did. Painting the veranda in 33 degrees is not something I want to repeat in a hurry. Now to get home and see our grandsons! Until the Autumn, Mimosa. ❤️

And all of a sudden the bookings started coming in! People are beginning to feel a bit more confortable about travelling. We have booked our flight today, and can't wait to get back.
Last year we arrived to find Giuseppe had planted vegetables for us! Such a lovely kind man. Nothing is too much trouble.

October is always hit and miss but, despite predicted rain, we have had glorious weather, allowing us to relax by the pool and also do some gardening. I always enjoy preparing our meals here too.

We are now live on Airbnb, a new venture for us.
It is still much cheaper to book the villa with us direct, and we still have availability for some of June, July, August, and September.
If you like a property which is minimalistic, walk on by. Our villa has virtually everything you have at home. We find many of our guests spend most of their time at the villa, enjoying the sunshine and the pool.
