:
TO ALL OUR CLIENTS,
WE ARE ALL FINE IN CASTELLINA IN CHIANTI.
In the last few hours the first cases of Coronavirus in Italy have been recorded, which have alarmed the population.
Please consider that every precaution taken by the Italian Government aims at avoiding the spreading of this virus. If all countries tested potentially infected people, as it is being done here right now, they would find out the real numbers of this infection!
While the media has inspired a feeling of panic, as it tends to do, life is continuing on as normal here in Tuscany. We must remember that this virus has been less dangerous than the seasonal flu that affected many of us this winter.
PLEASE DON’T TRUST ALL THE IMAGES YOU SEE ON THE MEDIA!
If you have seen images of empty supermarkets it’s because people in a general hysteria are buying 5 times more food than usual so nobody was prepared to that, but we do not have a food shortage! --- and you probably know how serious Italians are about their food ;-)
Some of the most “sensational” images you might have seen are from a few small towns that are considered “red zone” in Lombardia and Veneto, where probably the virus has spread in the first place and people are temporarily not allowed to leave their towns in order to contain and control the virus.
We are personally trusting only official information from local authorities. Leading virologist in Italy Dr. Roberto Burioni, stating that infection rates are still low, proportionate to the population of these areas. Dr. Burioni said: “We will see the results of these exceptional measures (Quarantine and closings of public sites) in the next days”.
We are receiving lot of cancellations and we are very worried about how fear can create larger issues than what they are in reality.
If you have already confirmed your booking, BEFORE CANCELLING PLEASE WAIT A FEW WEEKS TO SEE HOW THE SITUATION DEVELOPS and if you feel comfortable to travel.
PLEASE DON’T LET THE FEAR STOP YOUR DREAMS!
Warmly,
Belvedere di San Leonino e Colle Etrusco Salivolpi staff
