Da domenica 3 Dicembre, andrà in onda in seconda serata su Rai 3, “Viaggio in Sicilia”, la nuova docuserie RAI di 4 puntate.

Il documentario, a cura della produzione televisiva Pesci Combattenti S.r.l, con la regia di Riccardo Mastropietro, è stato realizzato con il costante supporto della Film Commission Valle dei Templi. Sarà condotto da Simonetta Agnello Hornby, la scrittrice siciliana più famosa vivente, già protagonista di altri programmi TV di successo come Io&George (Rai3, 2015), Il Pranzo di Mosè (Realtime, 2013), Nessuno può Volare (docufilm LaEffe, 2017).
Ad accompagnare la scrittrice verso il percorso on the road della Sicilia, sarà invece il fumettista e illustratore, nonché autore del graphic novel de La Mennulara, Massimo Fenati.

Nonostante la lontananza dalla sua terra, Simonetta Agnello Hornby non ha mai smesso di raccontare nei suoi romanzi, la Sicilia tanto a lei cara e spesso visitata insieme ai suoi figli.
Dall’estratto di una sua intervista all’ANSA, dalla quale scopriamo come la sua infanzia fosse stata trascorsa ad Agrigento, la scrittrice afferma: “La Sicilia è il posto più bello del mondo come terra e per quello che ha realizzato l’uomo. Abbiamo fatto dei giri in posti dove normalmente non si va, come alla miniera Ciavolotta, in provincia di Agrigento, che ora è chiusa, ma che conoscevo quando era aperta perché apparteneva alla famiglia di mia madre”.

Le riprese della docuserie sono state condotte presso dei luoghi celebri del territorio siculo, suggeriti dalla stessa Agnello Hornby, quali la Miniera di Ciavolotta, il Monastero di Santo Spirito, in piazza Pirandello, la via Roma di Porto Empedocle e la casa di Andrea Camilleri dove la conduttrice ha incontrato un’altra scrittrice, la nipote di Andrea Camilleri, Arianna Mortelliti, figlia del regista Rocco Mortelliti e della primogenita di Camilleri, Andreina.
