A beautiful and thoughtful preservation of structure and land combined with a sophisticated eye for detail has created an chic and inviting retreat. I love the warm neutral palette and interesting collection of authentic modern art and furnishings that harmonizes perfectly with the historic character. Located in the heart of the Marches overlooking seventy five acres of vineyards and rolling hills

, this recently and carefully restored former convent dates back to the 18th century and it shows. A triumph of historic preservation, the chic and sophisticated update conserves what’s wonderful about the rural lifestyle with a bold contemporary spirit. Cited and protected by the Italian Cultural and History Administration, the original natural stone construction and ancient oak beams have been preserved and integrated into a uniquely re-organized interior. Arranged over two floors, the entire home has been expanded and elevated with double height ceilings creating spacious light filled interiors. The ground floor living area now includes a fun and unexpected indoor plunge pool with doors that open out to the gardens as well as a fireplace room and an entirely re-imagined kitchen with breakfast bar. One of three bedrooms is here while the other two reside upstairs opposite each other with a cool lounge in between. The upstairs bedrooms feature en suite baths with a third bath on the ground floor. There’s a second outdoor kitchen for cooking and dining alfresco and a spacious pergola with lounge areas. The gardens have been restored with native plants and an extensive conservation effort to conserve and replant centuries old olive trees has resulted in a non-profit community based initiative that shares and redistributes the harvest. Located in a panoramic position, this home offers a great sense of openness as well as privacy, with wonderful views of the land and the Adriatic in the distance. The house is located in the famed Castelli di Jesi area, a quiet and largely undiscovered region of rolling hills, olive groves and vineyards and similar historic villages. Equidistant to the medieval towns of Cupramontana, Aprio, Cingoli and Staffolo, each feature a variety of restaurants, shops and cafes, as well as market days for all of the local artisanal bounty. A true highlight is the beautiful Lake Cingoli, located just five minutes from the house. Less than an hour’s drive is the stunning Riviera del Conero, with its superb collection of beaches and cliffs overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
