February is a perfect month to visit Florence, not only because it’s the month of love (February 14th is Valentine's Day), but also because February is one of the few months when there aren't many tourists, making it enjoyable to stroll around Florence without crowds—it's also a great time to visit museums in peace. Moreover the city offers many events.
Here are a few:
On the first Sunday of the month, museums offer free entry.
During the weekend of February 9th-10th, the Fortezza da Basso hosts "Taste", the food fair where you can taste and buy the finest Italian gastronomic products. You pay an entrance fee and then you can taste as much as you want.
On the same weekend, Carnival is celebrated with a grand parade in the center of Florence.
On January 28th, the Year of the Snake begins. To celebrate the Chinese New Year, many Italian cities will host events and festivities. In particular, Prato—home to the largest Chinese community in Italy—will feature parades, tours, and exhibitions to explore Chinese culture in the weekend 9th-10th February.
For dance lovers, from February 21st to 23rd, 2025, the event "Danza in Fiera" returns to the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. This event is entirely dedicated to dance in all its forms.
Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 9 AM to 2 PM, there will be a food market in Piazza del Carmine.
