The Frank Cornelissen estate was established in 2001, when Etna as a wine region was still undiscovered. The vineyards are located on the Northern valley of the active volcano Etna, in the eastern part of Sicily. The northern valley is considered today Etna's top area for single-vineyard (contrada) red wines like the “Côtes-de-Nuits” in Burgundy or Piedmont's “Barolo” area. The surface area of the estate is approximately 24 hectares, of which 13ha are old vines in the classic free standing alberello training system (Gobelet or bush-vine), 9ha of old vines transformed into modern rows with various width, approximately 2ha of olive growth and the remainder are fruit trees, vegetables and bush. Although Etna has a tradition in high density plantation of vines, this winery search es to reduce monoculture and has interplanted various local fruit varieties and keep bees to regain a complex ecosystem. The new vineyards are planted without grafts, using a selection of our original, ungrafted vines. The training system used is the sapling. Buckwheat is used for rebalancing soils low on organic material without recourse to industrial compost, especially important when preparing land for a new vineyard plantation. Ownership avoids soil-tilling as much as possible, although this depends on the vintage and the quantity of water over the winter (recovering of the vines after the production cycle). The main goal is to avoid all treatments whatsoever in the vineyard, orchard and surroundings, in which succeeded even in difficult vintages such as 2004 and 2005.

was purchased in the 1970s by the three Bagnoli brothers, Renzo, Sergio, and Loriano, owners of the group. They decided to recover the vineyards and olive groves and restore the cellar.
In 2009 the company was rented, keeping the villa for family use, but in 2013 the family decided to take over the management again.
The 20 hectares of vineyards of Fattoria La Leccia are composed of both native vines - Sangiovese and Trebbiano - and international varieties, such as Merlot and Syrah, grown in areas with clayey soils rich in limestone with a mild and ventilated climate.
Fattoria La Leccia is located on the top of a promontory at about 200 meters. The surrounding lands, protected by Montalbano on the north side, are exposed to sea breezes in summer. The property is surrounded by forest, which, on the one hand, preserves biodiversity and, on the other, isolates the farm from the surrounding vineyards. The production also includes oil, thanks to the presence of 3500 olive trees of the Leccino, Frantoio, Moraiolo, Pendolino, and the rare Madonna dell'Impruneta cultivars, and also the beekeeping undertaken in 2019.
Today the farm management is entrusted to three women from the Bagnoli family: Paola, who takes care of the agricultural part and the cellar; Sibilla, who takes care of communication; and Angelica, who follows the administrative and artistic parts. Together with them, there is Lorenzo, brother of Sibilla and Angelica, who brings expertise and passion for wine.
The company philosophy is based on respect for nature, know-how, and the correct change. Since the 2019 harvest, La Leccia has been a certified organic company. This vital goal is accompanied by the commitment to maintain the vineyard's natural balance, both by reducing processing with machinery to a minimum and by protecting biodiversity.
