On July 27, the "Regina Viarum" - the Appia Antica - was officially added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Originally built in 312 BC by the Roman censor Appius Claudius Caecus out of military necessity, it soon became vital for commercial and cultural exchanges, connecting Rome to the southern regions of Italy.
Stretching over 560 kilometers, the Appia Antica carries with it a wealth of history spanning thousands of years, serving as a testament to the engineering prowess and strategic brilliance of ancient Rome.

We are proud to announce our participation in the campaign, part of the Italian Ministry of Tourism’s “Major Italian Destinations for Sustainable Tourism” project. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with Fondazione Destination Florence, aims to inform visitors about making smart choices that lead to a more respectful and sustainable experience in Florence. Can you see the golden ball atop the dome of St. Peter's Basilica? 🌟

From afar, it may seem small, but imagine ascending all the way up: you'd find yourself facing a ball large enough to hold twenty people side by side. It's the shimmering golden globe that crowns the lantern of St. Peter's dome, crafted from fifty sheets of bronze laminated in gold.

Until the mid-20th century, it was possible to climb all the way up, ascending a narrow staircase that begins in the lantern's loggia. To enter the interior of the globe, however, one had to pass through a passage only 80 centimeters wide.🏛️✨

Our Story

FLORENCETOWN was founded by Luca Perfetto and Urbano Brini - college friends and travel enthusiasts- with the deep desire to offer unique experiences in Florence and Tuscany. After warm Spanish winter studying the evolution of the tourism industry Urbano and Luca dreamt up their own project. Together they developed innovative ideas to explore Italian Culture in a brand new way, introducing exclusive itineraries and a different approach to tourists services with a focus on quality.

Florencetown was then created and it was a quick success. The company started by offering innovative, high quality group tours and a concierge service providing high-end custom experience. Florencetown was a trailblazer for many activities that, at the time, had never been done before, including:
