The Student Life and Development department strives to bridge the cultural gap between our students and the Florentine locals by offering insightful, enlightening and engaging activities to compliment the FUA academic sessions. Student Life staff aims to assist students as they acclimate to their surroundings by providing a supportive environment that facilitates personal, cultural and intellectua

l growth through internal and external resources within the community. From the time of pre-departure through to program completion, the Student Life and Development Department acts as a source of guidance and support for FUA students. SLD encourages mutual respect and understanding between cultures through a series of extracurricular activities aimed at broadening student perspectives for a well-rounded cultural and academic experience

AUF - The American University of Florence is offering an exciting scholarship opportunity for this Fall’s MA program!

The scholarship will cover tuition and housing expenses. Living, and extra study expenses (course fees, textbooks, etc.) must be covered by the scholarship holder. The scholarship holder will also be enrolled in our Residents Assistants program helping and tutoring freshmen students in navigating their life in Florence.

At Corso Tintori 21, we had the pleasure of reopening our exhibition space for the final student exhibition of the semester on May 3, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. Chole Johnson and Lauren Vincent, two student artists, were featured in this exhibition. Johnson and Vincent wowed the audience not only with their artistic displays but also with the inspiring stories behind their work. Johnson sees her display as a manifestation of women entirely metamorphosing into the pinnacle of self-confidence. Whereas Vincent's exhibit is a window into the intimacy that female friendships hold and is genuinely a love letter to the ladies in her life. If this description seems incredible, that is because it is. Go see their entire exhibit for yourself!

Enjoy this video from last week's opening of the newsy art exhibit, Quaranta Giorni e Cuarenta Noches, at the Palazzi Community Center. Curated and presented by our students, getting hands-on experience in the FUA-AUF Gallery learning lab! The exhibition showcases paintings by Carolina Correa, who recounts the stories of Italian immigrants who moved to Argentina. The main piece is one of her relatives who migrated to Argentina. They would travel for 40 days and 40 nights between countries, all with unique experiences to tell. #ExperientialLearning #handsonexperience #artexhibition #learninglab
