Welcome to the FB page of Irina Willmer, licensed tour guide in Florence and the Florentine area. Florence is an ever-popular travel destination, with people from all over the world coming every year to visit the city and its main attractions. Florence is the cradle of the Renaissance, the city that first began the revival of the glories of Greece and Rome. Florence is where the first Renaissance
buildings was created, where the first opera was staged and where some of the greatest painter of all time lived and worked. Think of any great name: Botticelli, Leonardo, Brunelleschi, Raphael, Giotto, Michelangelo, and sure enough they were either born in Florence or lived her for part of their lives. Florence is home to one of the most magnificient cupolas in the world, the cupola that crowns the Cathedral; it is the home of Santa Croce, the Brancacci Chapel, the Medici Chapels. It was Florence that was ruled by Lorenzo the Magnificient and where Macchiavelli penned the Prince. Florence is where Ponte Vecchio spans the Arno, where the Uffizi houses Botticelli's Primavera and the Birth of Venus, where the Michelangelo's David was placed in front of Palazzo Vecchio as an admonishment to tyrants. Tourism in Florence is naturally well-developed, with many excusions and city tours available all year round. If you enjoy a walking tour in winter or a day trip to the Chianti in summer, there is no lack of things to do during your trip to Florence. If you enjoy painting and sculpture you can choose among some of the greatest museum of the world, such as the Galleria degli Uffizi, Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti and the Galleria dell'Accademia; if you enjoy the countryside you are only a short drive away from Fiesole and from the many Villas, Medici or not, that are plentiful in the Florentine area, such as Villa La Petraia and Villa di Castello. Explore my FB page and web site, find the excursion or city visit that suits you and I will be glad to help you discover this wonderful city.
