Santa Margherita church in Vernazza. This Ligurian-Gothic church, built on a small seafront promontory in 1318 on the site of an 11th-century Romanesque building, was constructed and dedicated to Saint Margaret after a box containing some of her bones was found on the waterfront.

In Vernazza you must stop to see this lovely church. It’s Santa Margherita di Antiochia. Its just on the left side of the waterfront piazza coming in from the ferry.

To get to the Cinque Terre from Portovenere, the best way is the ferry. It’s so beautiful coming into the towns from the sea.

The ferry point is just at the curve of via Garibaldi into Via del Olivo along the waterfront. There is a blue and white striped ticket booth.

Vernazza in The Cinque Terre. This is one of the most photographed towns. Climb the steps up to the tower for the most incredible view. The tower is the oldest part of the medieval fortress known as Castello Doria. It was used as a lockout to protect the town from pirates.

From Portovenere the best way to get to the Cinque Terre is the ferry. It’s so beautiful coming into the towns from the sea.

The ferry point is just at the curve of via Garibaldi into Via del Olivo along the waterfront. There is a blue and white striped ticket booth.

The Via del Amore hiking path in The Cinque Terre is now open!!! This path connecting Manarola to Riomaggore was closed in 2012 due to a landslide.

If you’re interested here is a story of how the path was created.

Cinque Terre's most romantic trail has been closed for 12 years, but thanks to new safety measures it's about to reopen to visitors.

What a wonderful dinner at CasaMare, the newest restaurant in Portovenere. We always try the restaurants before recommending to our guests. This was a treat!! It’s right on the edge of Portovenere under the San Pietro church built into the rocks of the cliffside.

The decor is very tasteful and it’s great how they’ve built in a long table along the water.

The dishes at CasaMare are beautifully presented and made with freshest ingredients and so full of flavor. We throughly enjoyed every dish. They even have their own olive oil.

The service is impeccable!!

For us this is a must try restaurant and is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Assieme per le vie di Porto Venere alla scoperta del patrimonio artistico e paesaggistico, alla ricerca delle piccole sculture di terracotta.

La bellezza è intorno a noi è un progetto di arte partecipata che sfrutta la regola della caccia al tesoro, per stimolare uno sguardo nuovo in un luogo anche già conosciuto, per favorire la consapevolezza del patrimonio artistico, culturale, paesaggistico e architettonico del nostro paese. Lo scopo di questa azione è quello di stimolare l'esplorazione, la ricerca, l'osservazione dei dettagli e dei beni culturali, per attivare un processo di appartenenza e riappropriazione dei luoghi da parte della comunità.
L'evento si svilupperà nei giorni 𝟐𝟓-𝟐𝟔 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐢𝐚𝐳𝐳𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐢 𝐚 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐞.
