🏰 Originally Lengueglia, was the name of an important local family and has been modified to Lingueglietta. The Borgo’s history dates back to 1049 when it was first mentioned. 📜
Nestled among olive trees and along the scenic Batterie road, you can almost smell the sea! 🌊
Wander through the charming carruggi, typical Ligurian alleys, recently renovated and paved. These narrow paths, connected with ramps and steps, are covered by medieval vaults and arches, taking you back in time. 🏰 At the heart of the village, you’ll find the Civic Lodge, under the archway that still holds the stone measures for oil, wine, and corn. This ancient borgo developed around a castle and a medieval church, with narrow alleys winding down to the countryside. 🌿
Admire the 13th-century ruins of the ancient castle of the Lords of Lengueglia from the square in front of the Parish Church, dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. ⛪ The church façade shows signs of many renovations, with a stone core dating back to the 13th century.
Stroll down Via Marconi for a breathtaking view of the San Lorenzo valley and the sea. 🌄 At the end, you’ll see the beautifully restored apse of the late-Romanesque Church of San Pietro. 🕍
