🇬🇧▫️𝐿𝑎𝑠𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑖▫️ is a town in the metropolitan province of Palermo not far from Cefalù.
🔹The roots of Lascari, a village of feudal origins, are strongly linked to the historical events of the noble Aragonese and Ventimiglia families. In this fertile and generous land, around the year 1300, Federico IV and his sister Eufemia, sons of Pietro II of Aragon, lived in the Castle of Sant'Eufemia, a chosen place for hunting in the nearby woods. According to tradition, the noble Eufemia, vicar of the Kingdom of Sicily, died in this very castle on February 28, 1359, and her mortal remains were moved to the Cathedral of Cefalú.
🔹Subsequently, political events led the Ventimiglia family to play a decisive role in the economic and social development of the town and in 1700, at the behest of Don Gaetano Ventimiglia, the Mother Church of Lascari was built around the pre-existing feudal tower of Carbone. The name of the town seems to have originated from the Ventimiglias, descendants of the Lascaris family of the Emperors of Constantinople.
🔹The town of Lascari, gently nestled on a green hilly ridge, bathed by two rivers, the Colluzzo and the Calcavecchio, stretches out towards the sea which is about 2.5 km away. The beautiful Madonie mountains form the backdrop to the city together with which it forms a suggestive and picturesque landscape. Its coast offers the famous beaches of "Gorgo Lungo" and "Salinelle", the most beautiful seaside resorts on the Tyrrhenian coast. In a short space of a few kilometres, you pass from the pristine blue sea to the fertile hills which, like natural amphitheaters, seem to stand one above the other until you reach the imposing peaks of the Madonie.
🔹In this area the vestiges of the Renaissance towers merge with the luxuriant Saracen citrus groves and olive groves. The strategic geographical position of the town, being very close to the sea and the mountains, make Lascari the ideal place for pleasant holidays.
