I carretti Siciliani erano dipinti per proteggere il legno e anche per tenere lontana la cattiva fortuna.
Oltre che un mezzo per trasportare merci diventarono presto uno status symbol e la pittura su di essi diventò sempre più intricata e complessa.
I maestri dei “carretti siciliani” sono rimasti in pochi ormai, e nel video ne vedete uno, Domenico Di Mauro, che quando è stato girato il video aveva 102 anni.

Those carriages were painted to protect the wood and also to keep bad luck away, but they became also a status symbol and used to carry goods and in local celebrations. The paintwork needs special skills and it’s very intricate. The Master in the video is Domenico di Mauro Who, at the time of the shooting was 102 years old and one of the few masters of the craft left. In your memory master ❤️
