Small bays and endless beaches, washed by warm waters.
The fine sand is constantly blown by the wind and piles up here and there, sometimes forming huge dunes.
The bushes that cover the coastline try to prevent these desert landscapes from advancing, and their sweet scent makes walking through them a delightful experience.
The beaches are often so long that it is possible to walk for an hour or more, surrounded only by wilderness, so clothes become unnecessary.
Stripped of the superfluous, you become one with nature, merging with its majesty, allowing you to appreciate the essential and be grateful and respectful for the great gift that is life.

While studying Faroese, I read the text of the popular song "Eg oyggjar veit" = "I know of some islands", by Fríðrikur Petersen, which celebrates the natural beauty of the Faroes.

While reading it, I immediately visualized some of my recent photos waiting to be published.
So here are the photos and the text :)

🇫🇴 Faroese text:

Eg oyggjar veit, sum hava fjøll
og grøna líð,
[...]
og áir renna vakrar har
og fossa nógv;
tær vilja allar skunda særtey
í bláan sjógv.
[...]

🇬🇧 English literal translation:

I know of some islands, that have mountains
and green hillsides,
[...]
and rivers run beautiful there
and fall heavily a lot;
they all want to hurry
into blue ocean.

One year of geno.cide + 75 years of crimes (illegal occupation, apartheid, violence, attacks) committed by Israhell with the complicity of the US, UK and EU.
Thousands of innocents murdered.
Thousands of children injured, homeless, orphans, without instruction.
Shame on you Israhell, US, UK and EU.
We have had enough of your double standards.
We have had enough of your atrocities.
We have had enough of your arrogance.
Humanity will prevail if we don't stay silent!

Whether you are a foreigner or a local, it doesn't matter.
Anyone is welcome in the houses of Syðrugøta during the HOYMA festival.
Once you've removed your shoes, the owners welcome you with drinks and food before giving you a seat in their living room, where local artists perform.
And when it gets to midnight, the Töting lounge opens, and you can dance the night away!

During the last few weeks, my colleagues in Mykines found several in the village.

When they leave their burrows at night, some pufflings are attracted/confused by the village lights (maybe they think it's the moonlight reflecting on the ocean), so they fly to the village and get stuck instead of flying out to the sea.

So my colleagues and I took them and then released them in the morning, tossing them from the cliff.

Two nights ago, these two tourists decided to spend their night in Mykines.
And it was definitely the best choice.
The weather was so beautiful, and there were still many puffins around!

A beautiful landscape shrouded in mist is like admiring an unfinished painting in which the imagination blooms and weaves threads of mystery.

Soon, these little "clowns of the sea" will leave the Faroes and spend several months in the open ocean.

Travel photographer in love with the Faroe Islands

I’m Alessio Mesiano, I was born in 1982 in Milan, Italy. I’m based in Milano and in the Faroe Islands.

My creative soul brought me to be a photographer and also an architect.

I’m focused on travel photography which involves various other genres like landscape, animal, drone, architecture, reportage, event and wedding photography.

In 2008 I fell in love with the Faroe Islands and since then I’ve been travelling there very often. Thanks to several collaborations like with VisitFaroeIslands, G! Festival and thanks to my growing knowledge of the place, I’ve been able to create a huge photo stock of these remote islands placed in the North Atlantic Ocean.
