Despite Marina di Modica is only a small seaside area belonging to the Baroque city of Modica (UNESCO World Heritage site), you can still find some very special places to eat there.

Do you need a romantic dinner at the beach? Look no further than “Corallo - Beach and Food”: a classy and elegant fish restaurant right in the middle of Marina di Modica beach.

Craving some artisanal gourmet pizza or delicious and tasty burgers/meat panini? Then your place to go to is definitely “Stuzzicadenti - food corner” (https://m.facebook.com/stuzzicadentifoodcorner/ ), located at the corner of Mediterraneo square (the main square). The place is small but staff is extra friendly and you can either eat there or order takeaway pizza and panini.

Looking for a more traditional Italian/Sicilian food? Check out Emporio Caccamo (https://emporiocaccamo.com) in corso Mediterraneo (few steps away from Stuzzicadenti). A very cute dining place that takes its name from an old and iconic emporium shop that used to be there in the past.

Hai bisogno di una cena romantica in spiaggia? Non cercare oltre “Corallo - beach and food”: un ristorante di pesce di classe ed elegante proprio al centro della spiaggia di Marina di Modica.

Avresti voglia di una pizza gourmet o di gustosi panini di carne e hamburger? Allora il posto giusto per te è “Stuzzicadenti - Food corner” (https://m.facebook.com/stuzzicadentifoodcorner/), sito all’angolo di piazza Mediterraneo (la piazza principale). Il posto è piccolino con una piccola terrazza ma lo staff è molto amichevole e puoi decidere se mangiare lì o ordinare pizza/panini da portare via.

Stai cercando del cibo italiano/siciliano un po’ più tradizionale? Dai un’occhiata ad Emporio Caccamo (https://emporiocaccamo.com) nel corso Mediterraneo (da pochi passi da Stuzzicadenti). Una piccola trattoria molto carina che prende il suo nome da un vecchio e iconico emporio e negozio di souvenir che era lì in passato.

Just 2 km away from Casa Gaia, on the cliff of contrada Pisciotto, you’ll be able to admire the ruins of a majestic monument of industrial archeology: the Penna furnace, a place that was a brick production plant until 1924.
In the last years, thanks to the charm of its ruins, it has been used as a movie set in the successful TV series “Il Commissario Montalbano” (based on the popular novels of Andrea Camilleri, famous Sicilian writer), where the location where the factory stands is called “La Mànnara”.

The Penna furnace stands out impetuously watching over the long and fascinating stretch of beach that goes from Pisciotto to Sampieri (an old fishermen village), like a sort of “secular cathedral by the sea”

A soli 2 km da Casa Gaia, sulla scogliera di contrada Pisciotto, potrete ammirare le rovine di un maestoso monumento di archeologia industriale: la Fornace Penna, uno stabilimento che fino al 1924 era destinato alla produzione di laterizi.
Negli ultimi anni, grazie al fascino delle sue rovine, è stata utilizzata come set cinematografico nella fortunata serie televisiva de “Il Commissario Montalbano” dove la località dove sorge la fabbrica viene chiamata “La Mànnara”.

The south of Sicily is well known for its beautiful sandy beaches. At 350 meters from the apartment, you will find the beach of Marina di Modica. A clean wide beach with a few lido’s that offer beds and services, but there’s also plenty of free public beach space to find your own spot. In summer (specially on weekends) it’s a buzzing Italian family beach.
At 5 minutes drive with the car, you’ll find the quiet and wide beach of Pisciotto, known for the ruin of the Penna furnace (location also known as the “Mánnara” in the successful Moltalbano tv series). No lido’s here, but a nice hippie with his catering bus is happy to serve you some cold drinks and snacks. In Pisciotto you'll also be able to enjoy the most beautiful sunsets in the area.
At the other side of Marina di Modica lies the wide desert-like beach of Maganuco. On both sides of this beach there are some nice Lido’s with beds and all kinds of services. The rest is all free public beach to set up your own parasol, chairs and towels.
If you travel a bit further, as in 10 minutes, you come to the beaches of Sampieri (a small fishermen village) or Pozzallo (the bustling harbor city of the area). Very well worth a visit!

Il sud della Sicilia è noto per le sue bellissime spiagge sabbiose. La spiaggia di Marina di Modica dista circa 350 metri dall'appartamento. Una bella spiaggia ampia con pochi lidi e tanta spiaggia libera. In estate (specie nei weekend) è una spiaggia molto accogliente affollata da famiglie italiane e tanti giovani.
A 5 minuti di macchina si trova la tranquilla ed vasta spiaggia del Pisciotto, nota per il suo rudere della ‘Fornace Penna' (location meglio conosciuta come la “Mánnara” nella serie tv del Commissario Moltalbano). Non ci sono lidi qui, ma troverai un vecchio hippie con il suo furgoncino ad offrirti bevande fresche e snacks. Puoi anche vedere i tramonti più belli qui!
Dall'altra parte di Marina di Modica si trova la spaziosa e tranquilla spiaggia di Maganuco. Su entrambi i lati ci sono alcuni lidi con lettini e ristoranti ma c'è il resto è tutta spiaggia libera da utilizzare per il tuo ombrellone e telo da mare.
Proseguendo un po' si arriva alle spiagge di Sampieri (in passato un piccolo villaggio di pescatori) e Pozzallo (la vivace città portuale della zona). Assolutamente da visitare!

Welcome to Casa Gaia, the page of our renovated rental apartment in Marina di Modica in the south-east of Sicily.

Our beach designed and luxurious apartment is 100m2 and it has two bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed (160x200) and one with two single beds (90x200).
The apartment has also two bathrooms: the main bathroom has a big sink, a bidet, a walk-in rainshower and a washing machine. Towels and bed linen are provided for.

The spacious kitchen has an induction cooking-plate, oven, dishwasher and a big fridge with a separate freezer.

The apartment has air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, a flatscreen TV (with Netflix) and a soundbar which easily connects via Bluetooth to your own devices.

The 30m2 sunny terrace is facing south and includes an outdoor sunshade, an outside shower and a sink. Free private parking in front of the apartment, just 10m away from the terrace.

The beach is 350m away, a pleasant 5 minutes walk from the apartment.

Benvenuti a Casa Gaia, la pagina del nostro appartamento in affitto finemente ristrutturato a Marina di Modica, nel sud-est della Sicilia.

Il nostro lussuoso appartamento di 100m2 è curato con stile e attenzione ai dettagli, dandogli un design da spiaggia.
Casa Gaia ha due camere da letto: una master con letto matrimoniale da 160x200 e una cameriera con due letti singoli da 90x200.
L’appartamento è dotato di due bagni, di cui quello principale con ampio lavabo, bidet, una larga cabina doccia a pioggia e una lavatrice. Sia gli asciugamani che le lenzuola sono già forniti.
