Nicky and Tony extend a very warm welcome to you, your friends and family. Thank you for choosing to stay in our beautiful Italian home. The Marche region lies on the eastern side of central Italy, between the turquoise Adriatic Sea and the stunning Apennine mountains. Much of it remains unspoiled by mass tourism. The Adriatic coast has been known as a sun and beach mecca for years, and inland, yo
u will find places where time really has stood still. What better place, also, to share a love for food with a perfect balance of coastal fruits of the sea, intensively farmed midlands, and the wild harvest of the mountains. Cuisine in Marche is deeply rooted in peasant tradition and much use is made of food gathered from the wild; funghi, game, wild herbs, nuts and of course the region’s treasure - truffles. In addition, wild boar, make for marvelous ragù and sausages. Between the mountains and the sea, there are gently rolling hills rich in farro and wheat, peaches and plums, tomatoes, garlic, fennel, basil, lavender, and rosemary. Delicious wines are also produced here in the region. Verdicchio (meaning little green one), is the most prolific and well known of the grapes grown. This is a white wine that accompanies fish beautifully even earning the accolade as the ‘best wine for fish in Europe’. Don’t stop there though! Explore the other red and white local, young wines that you will easily find. Warm wishes
Nicky and Tony
