European Festival of Ancient Greece

European Festival of Ancient Greece and spreading ethical values, such as the centrality of the person, integration, responsibility and active citizenship.

Our organization promotes, supports and disseminates the research, the studies and the dissemination of the ancient mediterranean civilization cultures, activating experiential learning processes linked to the great themes of the history and arts. The international project Ευρωπαϊκό Φεστιβάλ Αρχαίας Ελλάδας "ΕΦΑΕ" - European Festival of Ancient Greece, adopts as its logo a stylized owl which in An

cient Greece was a symbol of wisdom, intelligence, understanding and problem solving, managing with its keen gaze to penetrate the darkness and bring the light of knowledge. The ΕΦΑΕ project, was born from the meeting, the wish and the enthusiasm of a group of professionals engaged for years in the field of education, coaching, art and the organization of major national and international cultural events dedicated to all age groups, with particular attention to young Europeans high school students of different fields of study (classical, scientific, linguistic, artistic, humanistic, tourism, sports, dance, music, fashion and IT). The project promotes the social and cultural development of the territories, sustainable tourism, the enhancement of places of historical-archaeological interest, involving the greatest number of people and other international organizations to create a fertile base for meetings and ideas to strengthen the European identity. It supports and disseminates the research and historical culture of ancient Greece, the cradle of European civilization, of art in all its forms, with particular regard to the disciplines of theater, sport, music, dance, poetry, sculpture, architecture, ancient fashion design, technology, ancient and modern Greek culinary art, activating creative knowledge and interaction processes connected to the great themes of history, mythology, literature, archeology, philosophy and sciences, acquiring consequently the memory of the past to orient oneself in the present and plan the future. It offers through initiatives that foster the relationship and confrontation with each other, the opportunity for students and adults to participate to educational entertainment paths (online, live in the territories of ancient Greece and in Europe), carrying out training activities with a free methodology (inductive method, cooperative learning, action-research, etc.) During the course of the project, experiential learning paths are organized with the support of institutional and other local organizations, within the most impressive historical sites of ancient Greece (archaeological areas, monuments, theaters, stadiums, temples, agora, polis, gymnasium); here, the imagination takes shape and through numerous activities, such as: educational workshops, debates, representations, historical, literary, theatrical, poetic paths, culinary, artistic events, historical-artistic guided tours, cultural trips, excursions, meetings, conferences, seminars, conventions, congresses, performances, readings, exhibitions, concerts, education and training courses, we create an innovative journey between mind, body and emotions while preserving the passion and originality of the history of the times in which it takes place. The conception and development of the project is entrusted to a team of international experts. Historians, sculptors, archaeologists, artists, athletes, professors of history, philosophy, literature, art history, foreign languages, science and technology, visual arts and physical education, collaborate actively at the creation of itineraries with the intent to explore, discover, through the experiences of our predecessors, other horizons on the awareness of the human being and to foster cultural and artistic exchange in a European perspective. The project aims to become a reference asset for all students and adults, which are interested to experience through this epic journey an innovative way of learning and well being. To favor the propensity to ideation, to personal and cultural growth through a practical-creative approach, developing a method of thought and practice that goes deep into action, which allows you to look inside with greater awareness, regaining possession of your own feelings and emotions and which leads to the realization of common projects with the construction of forms of cooperation. To encourage a better knowledge of one's abilities, to act in a responsible, conscious and democratic way, to develop a cognitive process "learning to learn" that leads to knowing how to understand, know how to apply, know how to synthesize, know how to analyze, how to evaluate, to spread the knowledge of the artistic and cultural heritage of the territories, to support actions of cultural mediation, social inclusion, generational exchange, providing useful tools to develop concrete skills and orienting oneself in the creative managerial work branch.

Hi there‼️
Wishing you a great summer ahead, we share our last new born April route with you all.

From 15 to 20 April we have had the opportunity to add a new project to our educational paths.

Crete, the Zeus island “The labyrinth of the Mediterranean”.
The myth of Ariadne and Theseus involved us under many aspects and point of view. The labyrinth linked to anthropology questions was the main topic of the project.

“Can existence decipher the labyrinth by any chance or it can do without it? And where is the labyrinth? Where does it hang menacingly? Up or down? In or out? Or is it perhaps behind you? And what is the labyrinth like? Is it sad and strong like the minotaur or thin like a sword's edge? Is it a male or a female? It is legend or history. It's dance or it's death. Is it life or fear? What is the labyrinth?”

During the path we have been visiting, exploring and discovering the archeological sites of the Minoan civilization, one the most ancient.

The stunning museum of Heraklion, the site of Knossos, Malia, Phaistos and Gortyna were the sacral places of our event.

Participants they became protagonists of the event through the organization of several artistic experiences.

We share here some pics of the event.
The initiative will be held again on Crete island on April 2025😉

The 🦉European Festival of Ancient Greece lands 🛬 to the stunning city of Matera, 🇮🇹.

The 12th January 2024
Matera will be the theater of the conference AGON: Body, Mind and Soul. A Philosophical Perspective

This conference aims to deeply explore the connections between sporting activity, philosophy and the human experience as a whole. After introducing the fundamental concepts of the Agonal philosophy, including its purposes, its ethical theories and the importance of sports practice in philosophical history, we will explore the relationships between physical activity, mental health and general well-being.

We will delve into the philosophical meaning of movement through sport by examining concepts such as that relating to the harmony of the body in movement, elegance and beauty in the sporting gesture up to analyzing some forms of visual art linked to this activity.

This conference will allow us to fully explore the different dimensions of the agonal philosophy, offering a complete and in-depth overview of the theme "Body, Mind and Soul".

This Event is dedicated to the Italian speaking audience.

Wishing you all much love for the new year ♥️

Agon educational project‼️
The fourth edition of the international educational program organized by the European Festival of Ancient Greece has just ended.
Between 19 March and 04 April, about 1000 students visited the most emblematic places of ancient Greece in the footsteps of our predecessors. The ancient sporting and artistic competitions, which have shaped the entire western world, have been at the center of the journey.

🎭Theatrical, 🎶musical and poetic experiences have framed the promotion and enhancement of the symbolic places of Greek and therefore European🇪🇺culture.

Visiting students through the tragedies of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, texts of Epictetus and odes to the god Apollo lived a historical-artistic experience of contents closely connected to literature, theatre, philosophy, history and poetry.

During the artistic workshops, participants had the opportunity to meet students from other schools and countries, get involved, get to know each other and collaborate to stage texts from Antigone, popular music and dances, modern choirs, imagine the ideal state through a path of ludens philosophy, tell places through storytelling, create sets, jewels and crowns with an ancient but current shape.

During the initiative, three scholarships were awarded for the participation in the archeo-photo contest.

Furthermore, the students participated in short conferences held by Prof. Maristella Trombetta (SFI Lucana and University of Bari) with the following topics:
