Urban Art in Naro: Via Vanelle, a Path of Creative Rebirth
The open-air museum in Naro represents a tangible example of how urban art can transform forgotten or, in this case, devastated peripheries, breathing new life into the city and granting access to extraordinary works of art to all, without necessarily having to cross the threshold of a traditional museum.
Located in Via Vanelle, this open-air artistic path hosts over 20 fascinating works of art, painted on the walls of former residences. This area, severely affected by a landslide on February 4th, 2005, has now seen artists and students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence come together to transform those walls into authentic works of art, infusing new vitality into this place. The open-air museum in Naro has been in continuous evolution since 2022, with artworks distributed in various areas of the city, following a precise project of urban redevelopment through art.
If you find yourself in Sicily, don't miss the inauguration of the urban path Via Vanelle, this Saturday, October 28th at 11:00. This extraordinary project is the brainchild of the Young Artists Public Commission, and it stems from the collaboration between the Municipality of Naro and the Academy of Fine Arts (under the guidance of Professor Vinciguerra), in collaboration with the Chiaramontani Study Center, synergizing with the European project within the framework of the Next Generation EU program.
