🍕SFINCIONE or SPINCIUNI - from Latin “spongiam” (sponge) - is the typical street food cooked by Sicilians in Palermo every December 8th. 🇺🇸It’s what some Americans call “Sicilian pizza”, well…Sicilian pizza in Sicily does not exist. Sfincione is the one!
🍅Sfincione can be red (rosso), topper with tomato, anchovies and aged cheese
🧀or white (bianco), topped with fresh cheese, onion and anchovies
