Caretta caretta is the only sea turtle species to nest on the Sicilian coast. Last year, in 2023, 142 nests were counted throughout the region. This year, the first one was found on the beach of Portopalo di Capo Passero in the province of Syracuse.

The megaliths of the Argimusco are composed of quartz sandstone, which has been shaped into a variety of zoomorphic and anthropomorphic forms. Some hypothesize that the rocks have been shaped by wind action, while others propose that human intervention may have been involved. Additionally, there have been investigations into the potential influence of astronomical alignments on the formation of these rocks.
