The history of the Villa Romano is linked to the events of the Romano dynasty; whose descendants are still owners of the building. Built between the end of 1600 and early 1700, the current structure of the villa derives by the three existing ancient buildings, as the marble masks of the Renaissance, the medieval capitals and friezes and even some elements of a marble pedestal from Roman times. The villa experienced periods of glory and was attended and praised by authoritative figures of the Neapolitan culture that loved to be hosted between the evocative scenes of abode. Today Villa Romano is appreciated as a genuine heritage of Piano di Sorrento and is still the summer residence of the Romano family; which has decided to open the house to the guests.
