💬 "We had a very delighted experience at Villa Vianci. The place is flawless clean and has all great amenities to accommodate our group of eight very comfortably. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a nice meal. We did not have our own transportation but Tommaso kindly arrange a private pick up for us from Florence to the villa and from the villa to Rome. We booked a dinner with Chiara and really enjoy her tasty and plentiful food that go so well with very nice pairing wine. Dining at the villa is an exceptional experience that anyone staying at the villa really should try. Too bad we only stayed just a few nights but we would love to stay for the full week and wouldn't hesitate to book Villa Vianci again should we come back to this part of Italy in the future. Villa Vianci has a rich history reflecting its strategic and cultural significance. Built using the ruins of Rocca di Staggia, the villa's development was influenced by the Via Francigena, a major medieval route.

During the 14th and 15th centuries, the area was pivotal in the conflict between Florence and Siena. Figures like Chevalier Nogaret, minister of Philip IV of France, and poet Dante Alighieri stayed at the villa. Architect Filippo Brunelleschi designed the "Rondella" tower during this period.

After Siena's capitulation, the area's importance declined, leading to depopulation. Amerigo Vespucci’s grandfather emigrated from Staggia to Florence, highlighting the town's historical connections.

In the 20th century, Villa Vianci saw a revival with Francesco Avanzati Bernardi and his family. His daughter Maria married Mario Puccioni, who bought Villa Vianci to fulfill her longing for country life. During World War II, the family took refuge in the villa, which saw restoration and expansion post-war. Maria managed the agricultural estate, focusing on wine and oil production.

Despite the mid-1970s decline due to the end of sharecropping, the villa remained a beloved retreat. In 2009, Maria's son renovated the villa to welcome guests, creating an intimate holiday experience. This marked a new chapter, transforming it into a place where travelers could feel at home.

Today, Maria's grandson and his wife, Chiara, manage the villa. They aim to restore its historical role as a cultural hub, ensuring it remains a harmonious environment for guests. Their commitment honors the family's legacy of sharing and belonging, keeping Villa Vianci a treasured destination.

📌 Sentierelsa River Park 📝 4,5 mi from Villa Vianci

The Valdelsa River Park (Sentierelsa) is a delightful spot for enjoying a few hours of fun with family or friends. This trail follows the Elsa River and is just a few minutes from Villa Vianci. It's an easy walk that's accessible for both the young and old, featuring parts where you can cross the river using piers or stepping stones effortlessly. At the park's entrance, there's a shaded area with a perfect spot for a swim in the summer, along with picnic tables and a grassy area for lounging and relaxing. You'll also find the picturesque Diborrato Waterfall, a popular backdrop for photos among the youth for their social media posts.

Overall, the Sentierelsa trail is about 3 miles long (1.5 miles each way) and offers a gentle walk. To make crossing easier, ropes and stone bridges are installed across the river at various points. Sentierelsa is renowned as one of the most scenic walks in Tuscany, celebrated for its lush vegetation and vibrant turquoise waters.

They start appearing in June, but you will see all their beauty only from the end of July.⁣⁣⁣⁣You are likely to see some beautiful sunflower fields around San Gimignano, and as a reference point, we recommend you stop by Loc. Bibbiano in Colle Val d'Elsa, 15 minutes from us. From there you can also enjoy a breathtaking view of the San Gimignano skyline in the distance.⁣⁣

Our Story

Ciao! We are Chiara and Tommaso, a couple that a few years back decided to leave the splendid Florence behind in search of old roots and new adventures. We both forever loved the Tuscan countryside so decided to take grab the opportunity of taking care of the old family villa built in the 18th century, remodeling and modernizing it so that we could welcome travelers from near and afar. Seeing the happiness and pleasure our guests enjoy as they stay at Villa Vianci has only strengthened our resolve to continue along this road, to continually seek new ideas and ways of improving our hospitality. We get excited with the idea that the villa can offer both modern comforts at the same time as making our guests “travel back in time” to a period in which life's rhythms were a bit more calm and respectful of the beauty of our land. We look to sharing this with you!
