🎥 The Pompeii International Film Festival has come to a close, and it was an honor for us at Askos to take part as a Friend of the Festival.

The theme chosen for this edition, cultural identity, deeply reflects who we are — it's the core of our everyday work and the compass that guides us in sharing and preserving the heritage of this land.

Tucked away in the heart of Naples, the Sansevero Chapel is not just an artistic gem—it’s a place shrouded in legend, alchemy, and mystery. You may have heard of the Veiled Christ, one of the most breathtaking sculptures in the world, but did you know these fascinating facts? 👇

🔮 A chapel of secrets: Prince Raimondo di Sangro, the mastermind behind this place, was not only an art patron but also an alchemist and inventor. Some believe he infused hidden messages and symbols into the chapel’s design!

The “anatomical machines” mystery: In the chapel’s underground chamber, two eerily realistic human skeletons with a preserved circulatory system have baffled scientists for centuries. Were they the result of an alchemical experiment? No one knows for sure…

Our Story

Our Tour Operator is called "Askos" which is a symbolic name. The word indicates a type of ancient Greek vase used to store liquids such as olive oil and wine.

The founder, Emiliano Tufano, once found an askos in an archaeological site during an excavation. Since then, it became for him the expression of the thrill of exploration, and a symbol of excitement and oblivion.

It all started in 2010 with the "PompeiIn" brand. Emiliano was fervent about promoting the wonderful historical heritage in the area around Vesuvius, especially in Pompeii, Herculaneum and in the city of Naples.

In 2016 Askos Tours began its life and from that moment organizes guided tours (group and private) throughout Italy with particular interest in the Campania region, Rome and the Vatican. For the foreseeable future, there is the plan of further expanding the offered services.
