Our Story

Just an hour’s drive from Milan lies Mandali. A beautiful new retreat center that overlooks the spectacular Lago d’Orta in Northern Italy. Built on a hilltop. And built for everybody.

Believe it or not, the story of Mandali starts with two entrepreneurial friends, Wouter Tavecchio and Wildrik Timmerman, who had high-flying careers as organizers of international dance festivals. The success of their businesses filled their fast-paced lives with ever-increasing abundance. But with this came the nagging feeling that there was something ‘missing’.

Wouter and Wildrik started to attend silent meditation retreats and slowly, but surely began to spread a different and more ‘spiritual’ message at their dance events which eventually led to them realizing their ultimate dream: to create a center where people can experience inner peace, well-being and transformation in a safe and supportive environment.

After a long search for the right location and the right architect, and subsequent years of planning and building, Mandali finally opened its doors in March 2017. The centre welcomes teachers, groups and students of all traditions and from all over the world—beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
