🇮🇹 Ricavato dalle rovine restaurate di un antico villaggio, scavato in profondità in una parete rocciosa, il è un vero e proprio hotel gioiello. Si affaccia su un paesaggio mozzafiato di burroni color rosa, imponenti formazioni rocciose e il lontano cono vulcanico del Monte Erciyes. 😍📸

👉 Le grotte in pietra risalgono a migliaia di anni fa dove prima risiedevano Ittiti, Persiani ed i primi cristiani, grotte dove adesso il lusso offerto è incredibile. 🤩💯

🇮🇹 A Machu Picchu esiste una vetta da scalare. Difatti molto prima del sorgere del sole, orde di visitatori entusiasti fanno la fila davanti alla biglietteria degli autobus di Aguas Calientes, sperando di essere tra i primi ad entrare nel sito. Sapete perché? 🤔

👉 Solo le prime 400 persone che si iscrivono possono visitare la vetta di Huayna Picchu, un piccolo picco verde a forma di c***o di rinoceronte che appare sullo sfondo di molte foto di Machu Picchu. 📸

👉 La vista che si gode a 1640 metri d’altezza è mozzafiato: il fiume Urubamba sembra avvolgersi intorno a Machu Picchu come un serpente. A detta dei visitatori, vale la pena svegliarsi presto per essere tra i fortunati ammessi alla vetta. 😍

🇮🇹 Civita di Bagnoregio è passata alla storia come "la città che muore". E’ una sorta di villaggio tardo-medievale immutato nel tempo e che conserva ancora oggi la sua immensa bellezza e il suo aspetto originario. Un luogo che sembra un museo. 📸

👉 Cerchiamo di capire il motivo per cui è stata definita come città che muore. E’ stata denominata così per via dell’erosione della collina e della vallata che ha dato vita alle forme dei calanchi e che continua ancora oggi. L’erosione è stata una catastrofe per il borgo e per gli abitanti, in quanto ha rischiato che la frazione scomparisse e da qui si è meritata il nome di “città che muore” o “paese che muore”. 😱

👉 Un’altra curiosità sta nel numero di abitanti: nel 2011 erano 16, oggi ne sarebbero appena 11. 👫

👉 Let's try to understand why it was defined as a dying city. It was named after the erosion of the hill and the valley that gave life to the shapes of the gullies and which continues today. The erosion was a catastrophe for the village and for the inhabitants, as it risked that the hamlet would disappear and hence it earned the name of "dying city" or "dying town". 😱

👉 Another curiosity lies in the number of inhabitants: in 2011 there were 16, today it would be just 11. 👫

🇮🇹 Era il 29 marzo 1989 quando, sotto il governo di Mitterrand il progetto dell’architetto Ieoh Ming Pei venne inaugurato. Si trattava di un’enorme piramide di vetro e metallo, contro cui la maggior parte del popolo parigino era contraria dato che entrava in forte contrasto con l’architettura del 1700 del palazzo. Nonostante ciò, dopo trent’anni la Piramide del Louvre è diventata uno dei simboli di Parigi nel mondo e non riusciamo a immaginare la capitale francese senza di essa. 📸
👉 L’idea di Pei era quella di usare un vetro trasparente per interagire con il cielo e l’ambiente circostante, in modo che le viste del cortile non venissero distorte. Un progetto dal design audace, che ha sfidato le critiche e che è stato capace di innescare una rinascita dell’architettura dei musei a livello mondiale: secondo l’attuale direttore del Louvre, Jean-Luc Martinez, l’architettura di Pei è stata la chiave per la crescita e il successo del museo, diventando un simbolo forte riconosciuto nel mondo. 😍

It was a huge pyramid of glass and metal, against which most of the Parisian people were opposed as it stood in stark contrast to the palace's 1700 architecture. 👉 Pei's idea was to use transparent glass to interact with the sky and the surrounding environment, so that the views of the courtyard were not ruined. 👉 Nel 664 fu teatro del Sinodo di Whitby, una pietra miliare nella storia della Chiesa in Inghilterra. Il promontorio è oggi dominato dal guscio della chiesa duecentesca dell'abbazia benedettina fondata dopo la conquista normanna. 📸

🇮🇹 Petra è un luogo magico ricco di storia e cultura, e dovrebbe sicuramente essere nella tua lista dei desideri. Come molti popoli dell'epoca, i Nabatei adoravano il sole come fonte di luce e vita, e il design di Petra riflette quella riverenza. Molti degli spazi più sacri della città sono costruiti per allinearsi con i cicli solari, inclusi i solstizi. 🌞📿
👉 Questo accurato design offre agli scienziati e agli archeologi moderni informazioni preziose su ciò che i Nabatei avevano di caro, e esattamente quanto speciale doveva essere Petra. 💛

🇮🇹 Fortunatamente, Roma è essenzialmente un gigantesco museo a cielo aperto, con qualcosa di nuovo da vedere dietro ogni angolo. Uno di questi è Piazza della Minerva, sede dell'elefante del Bernini. Molto probabilmente scolpito dall'assistente di Gian Lorenzo Bernini, l'affascinante pachiderma in marmo è sormontato da un obelisco egizio. Bernini aveva abbozzato elefanti in precedenza e intendeva creare una statua da esporre nei Giardini Barberini, all'ombra di alberi frondosi. 🐘
👉 Tuttavia, quando i frati di Santa Maria Sopra Minerva stavano scavando una nuova fondazione nel 1665, scoprirono un obelisco. Il Papa incaricò Bernini di creare un monumento per l'antico obelisco egizio, e Bernini semplicemente non riuscì a togliersi l'elefante dalla testa. E così, l'animale di marmo divenne la base del simbolo pagano davanti alla chiesa di cui i domenicani avevano scoperto l'antichità. 💯

🇬🇧 Luckily, Rome is essentially one giant open air museum, with something new to see around every corner. One of them is Piazza della Minerva, home to Bernini’s elephant. Most likely sculpted by Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s assistant, the charming marble pachyderm is topped with an Egyptian obelisk. Bernini had sketched elephants earlier and intended to create a statue to be displayed in the Barberini Gardens, shadowed by leafy trees. 🐘
👉 However, when the friars of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva were digging a new foundation in 1665, they uncovered an obelisk. The Pope commissioned Bernini to create a monument for the ancient Egyptian obelisk, and Bernini simply could not get the elephant out of his head. And so, the marble animal became the base for the pagan symbol in front of the church whose Dominicans had discovered the antiquity. 💯

🇮🇹 Rocamadour, città sacra e di devozione mariana, in Occitania, nel sud della Francia, si estende su tre livelli: la città bassa attraversata da una strada che la percorre interamente e che congiunge due delle quattro antiche porte (Salmon, Cabilière, de l’Hôpital, du Figuier), un complesso di sette santuari che la sovrasta, e più su ancora il castello e le mura fortificate. 🏰📸
👉Ogni anno è meta di migliaia di pellegrini che percorrono la scalinata monumentale - le Grand Escalier -, di ben 216 gradini, in ginocchio, conducendoli alla spianata dei santuari dove si affacciano la basilica del San Salvatore, con la cripta di San Amadour, dichiarata dall’Unesco patrimonio dell’umanità. 🛐😱

🇮🇹 Ci sono diverse leggende che narrano la storia della Torre della Fanciulla. Secondo la più famosa, un sultano aveva una figlia molto amata e un giorno un oracolo predisse che sarebbe stata uccisa da un serpente velenoso nel suo 18° compleanno. 👸
👉 Il sultano, nel tentativo di ostacolare la precoce scomparsa di sua figlia, la tenne a distanza dalla terra in modo da tenerla lontana da tutti i serpenti. Fece così costruire nel bel mezzo del Bosforo la torre, per proteggere sua figlia fino al suo 18° compleanno. La principessa fu collocata nella torre, dove poteva ricevere solo le visite del padre. 🐍
👉 Nel giorno del suo 18° compleanno il sultano le portò un cesto di frutta esotica come regalo di compleanno. Tuttavia nel paniere, tra la frutta, c’era un serpente che morse la giovane principessa la quale morì tra le braccia di suo padre, proprio come l’oracolo aveva predetto. Da qui il nome della torre dedicata alla Fanciulla. ☠️

🇬🇧 There are several legends that tell the story of the Maiden's Tower. According to the most famous legend, a sultan had a much loved daughter and one day an oracle predicted that she would be killed by a poisonous snake on her 18th birthday. 👸
👉 The sultan, in an attempt to hinder the early death of her daughter, kept her at a distance from the earth in order to keep her away from all snakes. He built the tower in the middle of the Bosphorus, to protect her daughter until her 18th birthday. The princess was placed in the tower, where she could only receive visits from her father. 🐍
👉 On her 18th birthday, the sultan brought her a basket of exotic fruit as a birthday present. However, in the basket, among the fruits, there was a snake that bit the young princess who died in her father's arms, just as the oracle had predicted. Hence the name of the tower dedicated to the Maiden. ☠️

🇮🇹 Hallstatt è molto più di una graziosa cittadina. In realtà è considerato il villaggio abitato più antico d'Europa, risalente all'età del ferro. Hallstatt, che significa "luogo del sale", ospita la prima miniera di sale al mondo. Grazie all'industria del sale, la città progredì rapidamente e si arricchì. Il sale è sempre stato un bene prezioso, a maggior ragione nella preistoria quando veniva utilizzato principalmente per conservare la carne. 🧂🤑
👉 La città può essere relativamente compatta, da come si vede da questa foto dall’alto. Difatti puoi camminare da un capo all'altro in meno di mezz'ora, ma c'è molto da vedere all'interno del paese e nei dintorni. Quindi suggeriamo di trascorrere almeno due giorni per vedere davvero tutti i graziosi angoli di Hallstatt. 😍📸

🇬🇧 Hallstatt is more than just a pretty town. It’s actually considered the oldest still-inhabited village in Europe, dating back to the Iron Age. Hallstatt, which means “place of salt”, is home to the world’s first salt mine. Thanks to the salt industry, the town quickly progressed and became wealthy. Salt has always been a valuable commodity, more so in the pre-historic times when it was primarily used to preserve meat. 🧂🤑
👉 The town may be compact, as you can see from this pic from the top. Infact you can walk from end to end in under half an hour but there’s much to see within the town and in the surrounding area. Spend at least two days to really see all of Hallstatt’s pretty corners. 😍📸

🇮🇹 Tutti conoscono questa torre e oggi è l'unico pezzo rimasto in vita, a ricordare il villaggio di Curon Vecchia. Il campanile è stato posto sotto la protezione del dipartimento delle belle arti ed è diventato il simbolo della Val Venosta e l'anno scorso Netflix ha prodotto una serie televisiva sul soprannaturale che si è proprio svolta qui. 🎥📸
👉 Una leggenda narra che in alcune giornate invernali sia ancora possibile sentire suonare le campane (che invece furono rimosse dal campanile il 18 luglio 1950, prima della formazione del lago). Strano, ma sarà vero? 🤔🔔

🇬🇧 Everybody know this tower and today it is the only piece left alive, to remind the village of Curon. The bell tower was put under the protection of the fine arts department and became the symbol of the town of Curon and the last year Netflix produced a supernatural drama television series that takes place here. 🎥📸
👉 A legend tells that on some winter days is possible to still hear the bells ringing (which instead were removed from the bell tower July 18, 1950, before the formation of the lake). Weird, but will it be true? 🤔🔔

🇮🇹 Sulla costa del Dorset troverai una delle icone più importanti della Gran Bretagna, la Durdle Door, un arco di pietra calcarea che emerge maestosamente dal mare. ⛰️
👉 Questo roccioso arco calcareo, sito sulla nota Jurassic Coast, è promosso in diverse brochure di viaggi del paese. Qui potrai guardare il mare che sbatte sulla roccia color caramello, con la natura rigogliosa tutta intorno. 🌼
👉 Per chi vuole star ammollo, potrai godere della limpidezza del mare nonché goderti il sole del sud. In nessun caso la scogliera di Durdle Door è adatta per tuffarsi. Proprio questo punto è saltato alle cronache di recente: tre giovani si sono tuffati dall’arco (da 300 mt di altezza); per fortuna sono sopravvissuti ma non senza gravi lesioni. 🚫

🇮🇹 Il Preikestolen (Pulpito di roccia), è una falesia di granito alta 604 mt che termina a strapiombo sul Lysefjord in Norvegia. Fino al 2013 non ci sono state morti accidentali sul Preikestolen. Tuttavia, ci sono stati suicidi e tentativi di suicidio. 😱
👉 Nel febbraio 2000, una donna austriaca e un uomo norvegese si sono buttati giù insieme dalla scogliera dopo essersi incontrati su internet e aver stipulato un patto suicida.
👉 Nell'ottobre 2004, una giovane coppia tedesca voleva fare la stessa cosa, ma sono stati fermati dalle autorità norvegesi, prima di arrivare sul picco.
👉 Nel 2013 un turista spagnolo è stato la prima vittima per una caduta accidentale, anche se qualcuno pensa che anche questo sia stato un suicidio e non un incidente.
👉 Le autorità norvegesi hanno deciso di non installare recinzioni o altri dispositivi di sicurezza, in quanto hanno ritenuto che sminuirebbe la bellezza naturale del sito. 😵

👉 In February 2000, an Austrian woman and a Norwegian man jumped off the cliff together after meeting on the internet and making a su***de pact.
👉 In October 2004, a young German couple wanted to do the same thing, but were stopped by the Norwegian authorities before reaching the peak.
👉 In 2013, a Spanish tourist was the first victim of an accidental fall, although some think that this too was a su***de and not an accident.

🇮🇹 Lo sapevate che ognuna delle 7 campane della Torre di Pisa ha un nome? Si è proprio così. La più grande è la campana Assunta, la cui massa ammonta a 2600 kg. Seguono le campane del Crocifisso, San Ranieri, Dal Pozzo, Pasquereccia (la campana più antica difatti risale al 1262), Terza e Vespruccio. 🔔
👉 Anticamente ogni campana era assegnata a un momento della giornata liturgica: la Terza, ad esempio, era associata all'ora terza del giorno (le nove del mattino), mentre la Vespruccio all'ora dei vespri (le sei del pomeriggio). La Pasquereccia invece allietava con le sue note il giorno di Pasqua. 🕊️
👉 Ancora oggi è possibile sentire il suono (elettronico) delle campane prima di ogni Messa del Duomo e a mezzogiorno. La campana Dal Pozzo venne distrutta durante la seconda guerra mondiale ed è stata sostituita con una copia. 💯

🇮🇹 Il mistero di Petra è Petra stessa. Da alcuni anni a questa parte arrivano notizie di sensazionali e disparate scoperte archeologiche, che però scompaiono ben presto nel nulla. Più che una città sembrerebbe un cimitero perché di tombe ce ne sono migliaia e di abitazioni pochissime. 👳
👉 Il monumento più importante di Petra, il Tesoro del Faraone, prende il nome da una leggenda dei beduini che vuole che sia stato costruito da un faraone che vi aveva fatto nascondere un tesoro (quale tesoro migliore del Graal?). 👑

🇮🇹 Meno conosciuta, ma altrettanto bella, Laguna Paron in Perù, è una distesa d'acqua meravigliosamente color turchese, circondata da picchi glaciali che raggiungono oltre i 5.900 metri. 📸
👉 Le acque turchesi incredibilmente ricche di minerali si allungano verso le vette della Cordillera Blanca. Se sei abbastanza fortunato da trovare una giornata di sole, il colore dell'acqua crea un contrasto sorprendente con le cime frastagliate color bianco e il cielo sopra azzurro. 😍
👉 E, cosa più sorprendente di tutte, la cima della Pirámide de Garcilazo (5.900 metri) getta uno sguardo gelido sull'intera scenografia. 🗻

🇬🇧 Lesser known, but equally beautiful, Laguna Paron is a gorgeously turquoise-blue expanse of water surrounded by glacial peaks that rise to over 5.900 metres in Peru. 📸
👉 The impossibly mineral-rich turquoise waters of the lake stretch away from your vantage point towards the colossal peaks of the Cordillera Blanca. If you’re lucky enough to be there on a sunny day (as we were), the colour of the water provides a striking contrast to the jagged snow-white peaks and the azure blue ceiling above. 😍
👉And, most strikingly of all, the peak of Pirámide de Garcilazo (5.900 metres) casts an icy stare over the whole scene. 🗻

🇮🇹 Viene spesso chiamato il "castello tra le nuvole" per la sua posizione in cima, circondato dalle nebbie montuose della Foresta Nera. 😍
👉 Il castello ancestrale degli Hohenzollern, prende il nome dal suo trespolo "in alto sulla collina di Zoller" che domina la valle del Danubio al confine orientale della Foresta Nera, a volte avvolto dalle nuvole come un leggendario mitico castello delle fiabe. 🏰
👉 La famiglia Hohenzollern è una delle più grandi dinastie d'Europa, un tempo regnava su porzioni di Svevia, Baviera, Franconia e Prussia in Germania ed era collegata da matrimoni e parentele varie alle famiglie reali britanniche e russe. 🤵👰
