Hi everyone! My name is Inez and I am a 21 year old girl from Sweden. In the beginning of September this year I decided to give myself a real challenge and go all the way to Reggio to study the Italian language at Dante Alighieri. When I first arrived I didn’t speak a word Italian, but after three months of studying at Dante I was able to communicate in Italian! 🤗
My favorite part about being in Reggio was the community. Guglielmo organized amazing excursions every week, we visited a lot of beautiful places in Sicily but also around the area of Reggio. These excursions were great opportunities to get to know everyone studying at Dante. You get to meet people from all over the world while experiencing the Italian culture☺️
If I had any problem Guglielmo was there to help me! Both he and his wife Yulia really made sure all students felt at home in Reggio🥰
I didn’t really know what to expect from the lessons at the school, since I had no previous experience of studying Italian. But I quickly realized that the beginning would be somehow of a challenge😅 Namely because the teachers only speak Italian with the students. It was hard at first but the further into the course I got the more I realized that this way of teaching actually was very efficient. With that said, the teachers were always happy to answer any questions we had or explain the grammar one more time. It was very helpful staying in Italy while learning the language, because every day you could practice what you learnt in different coffe places or at Cesare (the best gelato in Italy)😍
All in all, if you are thinking about going to Reggio, do it! It’s an adventure you’ll remember for the rest of your life!!
