The Aurelian Walls still surround the historic center of Rome and are among the longest and best preserved ancient city walls in the world. they were built between 270 and 275 AD. by the emperor Aurelian to defend the capital from possible invasions by the Germanic populations. The walls have a total length of approximately 19 kilometers and are equipped with a square tower every thirty metres, with a height of approximately 6 meters and a thickness of 3.5 metres.

It is possible to visit the Museum of the Walls from the San Sebastiano gate, with free entry!
