The crew of the Aita Mari rescued 176 migrants and refugees from two boats in the Mediterranean on Friday, according to a Twitter account affiliated with the rescue ship.
On Sunday afternoon, the rescuees were given permission to disembark on the Italian island of Lampedusa, amid stormy weather and high waves, after initially being denied said permission. Among those rescued were reportedly 116 adult men, 18 adult women and 42 minors.

📷 This migrant boat, packed with some 280 people, was intercepted about 24 nautical miles off the coast of the Italian island of Lampedusa early on Tuesday (January 25).

Three people were found dead on board the boat when it was intercepted.
Four more people died shortly before port authorities had brought the boat to Lampedusa.

The majority of those on board were from Bangladesh and Egypt. Those who died were reported to be from Bangladesh. They were found at night, when temperatures at sea are at their coldest, and are thought to have died of hypothermia or exposure.

After suspending operations in August 2020, we are pleased to announce that our rescue vessel, Mo Chara, will be deployed, once again, in the Central Mediterranean to continue saving lives.

In 2021 alone, at least 615 people have drowned or gone missing in the Mediterranean with the majority of these tragedies recorded in the Central Mediterranean route. The presence of civil and humanitarian rescue assets are vital due to the systematic omission of assistance by European authorities.

This is why, following five years of providing lifesaving search and rescue in the North Shore of Lesvos, Greece, we are operating Mo Chara again, as part of the Sea Eye 4. This joint mission with the German search and rescue NGO Sea Eye marks the beginning of a new era for Mo Chara, and it signals our ambition as an organisation to establish once again a full time presence in the Mediterranean.

In this new chapter in the Central Mediterranean, our mission continues to be the same: preventing loss of life at sea.

CITIZEN INCOME IN ITALY

According to the law, to apply for reddito di cittadinanza you must have been residing in Italy for at least 10 years and hold international protection status or the EU long-term permit. So, if you meet the requirements you shouldn't have any problem.
We know that many of you were able to apply despite not meeting the requirements. However, you need to be careful. In fact, when applying, it is possible that the CAF or patronato will ask you to sign a declaration in which you state that you meet the requirements. If you don’t meet them and sign, you need to know that you are declaring false statements, which may cause you problems with the law. Therefore the money will be like that of loan to you and you must pay back in a stipulated time so be warned
