:Food,Tiramisu

"Tiramisu"" is a pastry that means ""cheer me up."" Today I recreated a Roman holiday alone with a gelato from Pompi, an old tiramisu shop established in 1960. The tiramisu here is refreshing and not too heavy, so you can eat a lot!

Tiramisu is one of the most common desserts in Italian households. The way it is made differs from household to household, so you can enjoy a variety of flavors. The same can be said for tiramisu served in restaurants. There are bitter tiramisu, very sweet tiramisu, moist tiramisu, and dry tiramisu.
Pompi is also famous for its one-of-a-kind ""strawberry tiramisu. If you come to Italy, please try their authentic tiramisu."

Cool looking Itaro EVO debuted in 2017 December.
This pendolino(an Italian family of tilting trains) is not an AGV(Automatic Guided Vehicle) nor TGV(french for high-speed train).
The Itaro EVO operates up to 250 km/h (which isn't as fast as older ones) but this Ferrari-red and exotic car-like face is just eye-catching.
This high-performance train is also surprisingly eco-friendly.
Compared to cars, the CO2 emission is about half between Milan and Torino, and about 1/4 between Rome and Milan.
You've got to ride it!?

:Salad

When travelling, we hear customers saying, "I want lots of salad!"
It is true that potatoes are the most commonly served vegetable as a side dish.
But that doesn't mean Italians don't eat salads.
The fact that there is a restaurant named Insalata Ricca (Rich Salad) proves this.
The restaurant's main menu is, of course, salads!!
A large bowl full of salad is served. A variety of salads are available, simple one, some with meat or seafood, etc. Please see some photos below.
There are several of these restaurants in Rome. They are more popular with ordinary Italians than tourists and are highly recommended.
If you miss salad in Rome, give it a try!!

Montefiascone, north of Rome, has a wine with famous historical anecdote. Est! Est! Est!!! di Montefiascone", est is Latin for, there is, i.e., "There! Est!!!! Yes! is an interesting name. In the early 12th century, a German Bishop Defuk, who was on his way to Rome to attend the coronation of Holy Roman Emperor Heinrich V, sent his followers ahead and asked them to mark the entrance to an inn where there was good wine. to mark the entrance to the inn where the good wine was to be found. The squire found the wine at the inn in Montefiascone so good that he wrote three times, "There it is! ” as Est! Est! Est!!!The bishop liked the wine so much that after attending his coronation, he returned to Montefiascone, where he spent the rest of his life, and his tomb is in the town church.By the way, nowadays, various wines are used for the Pope's Mass, and this wine was one of them. The grape variety is a blend of Malvasia and Trebbiano mainly, and it is a fresh and lightly drinkable white wine. Est Est Est from Falesco, one of Lazio's most famous wineries. Fruity and modern. We have introduced only some of the wines from Lazio, but we will be introducing the entire Italian region in the future, so please stay tuned!

:Food,Granita
Gelato is all too well known for its popularity during the hot Italian summer, but have you heard of granita? Granita is the Italian version of shaved ice, which originated in Sicily. This time, we introduce you to some of the best granitas that you can enjoy in Florence and Rome.

First is Gelateria Carabe in Florence. It is a small store on the right as you walk past the Duomo in the direction of the Accademia Gallery. You can choose from gelato only, granita only, or a combination of gelato and granita.

I opted for a combination (EUR3): hazelnut gelato (first photo) and a granita (second photo) with a mix of Sicilian lemons and oranges called Spirit of Sicily! The granita has a refreshing citrus aroma that fills your mouth with a clean, crisp taste that you can eat as much as you like.

Tazza d'Oro in Rome is a coffee specialty bar located near the Pantheon. Here you can enjoy granita di caffe (EUR3), which is a granita made of crushed coffee and plenty of cream. The texture is crunchy rather than crispy, and the cream is not too sweet, which is just the right balance for the rich coffee.

Enjoy the delicious gelato or the granita and relax after a long day of sightseeing in the heat!

:Rome, Supermarket

Dogs and Senior citizens are welcomed at Italian supermarket: Carrefour.
Italian malls and other big buildings are required to have the entrance and exit separated.
This supermarket is quite thoughtful.

The store allows up to 10 kg small-ish dogs to be in the store with the owners because Italians consider dogs to be part of their family members and treat them with care.
The picture is a dog cart.

The store also treats seniors well. 60 years old and older customers with a membership card can shop with a 10% discount. So nice...

The Web store delivers for free for new-mom, seniors, and expecting mom-to-be (with 15 euro over purchase).

When you come to Rome, you should definitely check out Carrefour too!

:Chocolate

Today we are introducing a chocolate store where you can find a lot of them.
Perugina has a lot of products that are very popular with tourists!
As you can see in the picture, there are lots of chocolates that would make better souvenirs than in a supermarket.
For those looking for unusual souvenirs, there are also chocolate beer, wine and pasta.
Unfortunately, I haven't tasted any of these, but if you're interested, give them a try!

:Lazio,Wine1-3
The "Frascati Superiore," a full-bodied, high-end wine, and the sweeter "Cannellino di Frascati" (perfect with hard cookies) are designated as DOCG wines (Designation of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin, the highest level of Italian wine designation) in the province of Lazio. ), the highest designation for Italian wines.

Wines made south of Rome

Now, a little further along the highway to Naples, we come to the red wine region.

Lazio is the dominant producer of white wine (more than 75%), but in this area, the indigenous Cesanese grape is used to make "Cesanese" (it has several names).

Cesanese del Pirio" is one of the three DOCG wines in Lazio.

Cesanese is a wine with body and a bitterness that is typical of wine, and is a must with grilled lamb, which is a favorite of Roman.

:Parma, Parma ham
This time, we would like to introduce Parma, which is famous as the "Gastronomic Capital" among the many delicious foods in Italy. First, let us introduce Parma ham.

A big plate of ham like this photo will definitely make you want to drink more wine.
Along with Jinhua ham(China) and Jamon Serrano(Spain), it is one of the three best hams in the world.

Next is the famous Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. Also known as the king of Italian cheese.
Second photo is Cheese risotto. At first glance, it looks simple, but the cheese has a wonderful aroma and rich taste.

The city has the oldest theater in Europe, a temple of opera, churches and museums, as well as many elegant buildings. Come and enjoy these wonderful foods and a city of the arts.

:Food, Truffle Cream

One of the most appreciated gifts from Italy is truffle cream.
Bringing truffles itself is a bit too expensive and requires plant quarantine to bring back to some countries(like Japan).
However, once truffle is processed, quarantine is not necessary.
The black truffle and mushroom pickled in olive oil is my favorite (although white truffle is better, it is more expensive compared to black one).
There are many kinds, like salted, honey, cheese, artichoke hearts and butter etc..., of processed truffles available for a reasonable price.
You could simply eat it on a cracker, or use it as spread on toast.
The people receive truffle cream from you would love it too!

:Trento, Apple

Today I would like to introduce you to apples.
In spring there are lots of pretty pink flowers and in autumn you can enjoy apple picking.
In Italy, you can even find people walking around town biting into apples.
The most famous place in Italy for apples is the Non Valley in Trento, also known for the Dolomite Valley.
There are many different varieties of apples, and more than 15 varieties of apples are grown by farmers.
Some farmers offer visitors the opportunity to pick their own apples from the trees and take them home, while others serve juice, jam and sweets made from the apples.

:Lazio,Wine1-2
The vineyards are magnificent when the leaves are in full leaf, and even in winter, you can see beautiful rows and rows of hedge vineyards.

The wines produced in this area have many names, such as "Frascati" and "Castelli Romani," but they are mostly white wines, made from a blend of Lazio's typical white grape varieties, Malvasia, Trebbiano, and others.

The wines are fruity, easy-drinking, and refreshing with a hint of bitterness, with Frascati being the historic wine praised by 16th century Pope Paolo III (famous for his portrait painted by Titian!).

The local people usually say "white wine with fish," but the local specialty, porchetta (roasted whole pig), is paired with the local white wine. You should try it, too. Now you feel like a Roman.
