Sulmona's main square beautifully framed by snow capped mountains.
I had a great meal with the kids then I tried unsuccessfully to convince them to have a ride on the ferris wheel.

Sunday family meal ending with a traditional dessert: zuccotto. This "semifreddo" (sort of frozen mousse)is made in a special pumpkin-shaped mould (zuccotto means 'little pumpkin' in Italian). Sponge cake slices bathed in liqueur and gelato.
The original recipe goes back to the Renaissance when this dessert was prepared for a Medici's family banquet in Florence.
Some believe that its name was inspired by the dome of Florence's cathedral others claim that its shape resembles a cardinal's skullcap or zucchetto.

After 5 years at last we meet again! A long and hypertech restoration to preserve the statue for the next 2000 years.
The Belvedere Apollo this morning was the celebrity in the Vatican Museums.
A got a quick picture of him in resplendent beauty, with a new hand and pigments of gold in the hair!

After almost five years, the Apollo Belvedere, one of the most illustrious and admired statues of the pontifical collections, will once again be visible to the public. The Directorate of the Vatican Museums and Cultural Heritage is proud to present the study and restoration project, coordinated by the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities and carried out by the Stone Materials Restoration Laboratory with the Cabinet of Scientific Research.
