This is Marina, the owner & hostess of the retreats at Villa Il Cardinale.
Marina grew up in this beautiful villa, and her family were the first to uncover the Ancient Roman ruins on this site.
As an experienced yoga instructor, her retreats are accessible for all and can be adapted for varying levels of experience within yoga.
Away from her work at the villa, Marina is an academic, a Professor of Curation, specialising in exhibitions at the intersection between art & science, art & medicine. She has taught at some of the most prestigious arts universities, and curated a number of groundbreaking exhibitions. She is also an author of various publications...the list goes on!
As such, her knowledge in the history of art serves as an added plus for those enthusiasts joining the retreats at the villa. She is always happy to delve into Roman history & give advice on the best sites, art galleries and museums to visit in the centre Rome. Overqualified, she is a multifaceted hostess and a font of knowledge!

An ideal mode of transport in Rome… but the city is wonderful on foot. You can take it all in at a slower pace.
Stay at Villa Il Cardinale and explore all Rome has to offer…! Only 8km from the centre of Rome, we are moments away from the ring-road (GRA) that connects to all the Roman roads, Via Salaria, Via Flaminia, Via Cassia, Via Tiburtina.

A range of artisan workshops are available on our retreats.
We recently hosted something entirely new…! A jewellery making class with a jewellery designer from London .london
Jessica trained as a jewellery designer/maker at the prestigious colleges Central Saint Martins & The Royal College of Art. She has since set up her own jewellery brand and has been running that for 6 years.
Marina & Jessica met in London during her new collection launch ‘creatures of the deep’. They hope to host more classes like this over a retreat at Villa Il Cardinale, so stay tuned for more information!
A week away in Rome, practicing yoga, learning to make jewellery & eating delicious nutritious food. What’s not to love…?!
