I'm delighted to share the news with you that I have been recognised as a Doctor of Science in History by the University of Northwest.

My promotion of Rome and its Jewish history is as much a passion as it is a profession, but receiving recognition like this always inspires me to go further in my research, my teaching, and my touring.

Grazie.

I revisited this stepping stone this morning while walking through the Ghetto.

It's embedded on the Via del Portico dell'Ottavia, outside the house where, in October 1943, Liana Ornella Sabatello was arrested, deported to Auschwitz, and assassinated.

And I kept asking myself: how can someone arrest a one-year-old?
On what possible charge? For what possible crime?
And just how barbarous can humans be?

Hundreds of these stepping stones (𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘪 𝘥'𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘰 in Italian; 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘦 in German) are found throughout Rome and its Ghetto, embedded outside their victim's last home, rooted forever into the Eternal City's fabric. Yes, they serve as daily, painful reminders of a harrowing history. But by commemorating the individual, they offer an antidote to how the N***s viewed the victims - as statistics.

What a wonderful day today! Thank you Menachem Rivkie Lazar for giving me the chance to light one of the Channukia candles in the Colosseum Square, just few steps away from the Arch of Titus.
Together with Ruth Dureghello , Alessandra Sermoneta and many others jews of Rome, we brightened today, with the Channuka lights, what is considered a symbolic place for all the Jews in the world!

Wishing everyone a Happy Hanukkah!

What a fantastic year it's been!

I've met so many fascinating people, had the chance to guide for rabbis and celebrities I've long admired, and made long-lasting friends from around the world. And to finish it all off, I've been awarded the Travelers' Choice 2022 badge by TripAdvisor!

The Travelers' Choice award goes to businesses that earn consistently great reviews. Award-winners are among the top 10% of listings on Tripadvisor and are recognized for consistently demonstrating a commitment to hospitality and excellence.

I'm immensely proud of this milestone, and will continue to build on it and deliver next year and into the future!

The number of Jewish Nobel Prize winners is disproportionate to the global population. But by just how much? The answer will shock you.

Every morning, restaurateurs come here to sharpen their knives in preparation for making Jewish-style artichokes - carciofi alla giudia 😋

Have you ever tried it? If not you're missing out!!

Many Romans are familiar with the wartime story of the Gold of Rome. The events that befell Rome’s Jewish community during the N**i occupation of Rome were immortalised in Carlo Lizzani’s eponymous feature-length film. But few outside Italy are familiar with the story, and the impossible ultimatum the N***s gave the Rome’s Jews before raiding the Jewish Ghetto in October 1943..

The Gold of Rome tells the true story of the Jewish plight under the N**i occupation. It is a story of unity, courage, and yet ultimately betrayal.

Many of you will have visited the Vatican. But how many of you have been inside the Lapidarium?

This hidden room in the Vatican Museums showcases dozens of fascinating inscriptions from the Catacombs of Monteverde documenting the lives of Rome's ancient Jewish community.

While they reveal a great deal about Roman-Jewish life during the 3rd and 4th centuries, they also raise some significant questions.

Take this inscription, for example. Hold it horizontally and you have Jewish symbolism and Greek writing. Flip it over, however, and it's patently pagan. Why might this be? What does it say?

It was an honour and a pleasure to show Nahum around Rome's Jewish Catacombs.

Roman Jews do not consider the Jewish catacombs in their city as archaeological sites; to them, these are the graves of their ancestors, which they regard with great reverence

There are several people alive that can personally attest to being eyewitnesses of the Vatican possessing Temple vessels, including the Menorah candelabra.
