Cremona, a northern Italian city officially considered by UNESCO among the oral and intangible heritages of humanity for its long tradition of violin craftsmanship, is undergoing an extraordinary project. The world's most precious violins ever created, including a Stradivarius, will be played note for note, their unique notes recorded in a database to be kept for all time.
And no other sounds must interfere, therefore citizens have to walk (when allowed) near the auditorium where the recordings will take place on tiptoe, and cars and vehicles will be strictly prohibited in the surrounding streets. "Gemona, cheese ... and surroundings" ("Gemona, formaggio… e dintorni" in Italian) is the exhibition-market of the traditional dairy products of Friuli in northern Italy. The event takes place in the historic center of the charming town of Gemona del Friuli this weekend.
The dairy tradition of this corner of Italy has been called "the perfect synthesis between economy and territory", and has received the renowned Slow Food seal for the production model and the strict disciplinary to which the members must abide to preserve the excellence of the cheese.
The event, now in it's 19th edition, will include plenty of food stands, music, and entertainment for children. "Gemona, cheese ... and surroundings" is a fun and delicious treat for everyone!
