WHEELS OF CASTELMAGNO CHEESE
Are you a fan of old mountain pasture cheeses ? Booking with My Piedmont you will have the opportunity to be introduced to one of oldest cheeses in the world, the Castelmagno, made only in the Valle Grana, Cuneo Province. It's origin are back to the XII century when it became the official cheese of the Court of Margraves of Saluzzo. During the 18th century it became not only the King of the Piedmonteses cheeses but it was always on the menu of the most famous restaurants of Paris and London. Today few dairies remain and the production is limited to a small amount of wheels.
After the tour of one if the dairy with their cows and production you will be delighted by a special tasting of Castelmagno: the taste is slightly sapid with hint of grass, flowers and nature.
The aftertaste is long, round, crumbly with hints of stone cellars and soil. It's delicious in pasta dishes. Very good in gnocchi and risotto dishes

Can you guess the link between Cuneo town and the famous American writer ? The link is Cuneesi al Rum, special chocolates with a unique rum -based filling. In 1954 Hemingway was in Milano visiting his friend and publishing magnate Arnoldo Mondadori. He suggested the writer to stop in Cuneo on his way to French Coast, particularly at Arione Confectionery. Since there Cuneesi al Rhum, tradtional recipe from Arione, are world wide known.... MAGGIO CASTELLO: Piemonte Historical
Touring Piemonte from May to October means also the opportunity of experiencing an .Here is Maggio Castello http://www.arciarevello.it/ in Revello village, part of the glorious Marquisat of Saluzzo during the Middle Age. We are in the Po Valley ( Cuneo province), the one dominated by the Monviso peak. Every May the population organize the historical reenactment reviving the siege of Revello during 1548 by the French troupes. People partecipate wearing costumes and evoking emotions of the past with bold spirits and healthy pride. The charme of the Medieval History lives through the village quarters, including towers and palaces, with the blessing of horses, the historical procession, the siege and the display of flag-wavers.
CLIMB TO HEAVEN ...
A unique cultural experience 75 metres aboove the ground.
This is possible today at the monumental church of Sanctuary of Vicoforte, province of Cuneo in Northern Italy, known for having the largest elliptical cupola in the world. It is also known for its 6.032 square meters of high aesthetical quality frescos you can climb thanks to Magnificat Project www.magnificat2015.com. Magnificat will immerse you in an art experience along a specially secured route, taking in spaces never previously open to the public as you will walk through service passageways that lead to a breathtaking rooftop vista from the lantern, 75 metres above the ground.

When touring the Alps in spring and summer, you can find several Folk Festivals, where the protagonist is the Ghironda, a medieval folk instrument, very popular in traditional music. It's a stringed instrument, lute-like in shape, similar to the ancient lira. We'll talk a lot of Occitania, as it's a fundamental aspect of the language and culture. At the moment just have a sample of the Voice of the Occitan Culture with a special Ghironda demo by the Master Simone Lombardo.
