🇬🇧:"Castello dei Doria", a mysterious castle where you can admire an unforgettable view that reaches the coast of the Asinara Gulf, the area of Castelsardo, and the waters of the River Coghinas and Lake Casteldoriain.
This castle was built around the 12th century by the Genoese Doria family. Currently, only a few ruins remain of the fortress, like parts of the walls, the remains of a chapel, and a large cistern. The famous tower, with 20 meters high, is the part most well-preserved and important of the castle.
The castle, and in particular the tower, is surrounded by legends and myths that have been handed down over generations.

🇵🇹:"Castello dei Doria", um misterioso castelo onde se pode admirar uma vista inesquecível sobre a costa do Golfo de Asinara, de Castelsardo, e sobre as águas do Rio Coghinas e do Lago Casteldoria.
Este castelo foi construído por volta do século XII pela família genovese Doria. Actualmente, restam apenas algumas ruínas do castelo, como partes das muralhas, de uma capela, e de uma grande cisterna. A famosa torre, com 20 metros de altura, é a parte mais bem preservada e importante do castelo.
O castelo, e em particular a torre, estão associados a diversas lendas e mitos, que têm sido transmitidos ao longo de gerações.

🇬🇧: Basilica of the Holy Trinity of Saccargia is located in Codrongianos, in the province of Sassari.
This church, of Romanesque style, is one of the most famous in Sardinia for the black and white bicolour appearance, given by the alternating use of limestone and basalt ashlars.
The Basilica was completed in the 12th century on the ruins of another monastery, and it name, Saccargia, doesn’t derive, as many think, from the Sardinian expression “s'acca argia” (the spotted cow), but from the evolution of the Latin word “Sacraria”.

🇵🇹: Basílica da Santíssima Trindade de Saccargia, localizada em Codrongianos, na província de Sassari.
Esta igreja, de estilo romântico, é uma das mais conhecidas na Sardenha pelo seu aspecto bicolor. Esta aparência deve-se ao uso alternado de pedra calcária e basáltica.
A Basílica foi concluída no seculo XII sobre as ruínas de outro mosteiro e o seu nome Saccargia não deriva, como muitos pensam, da expressão sarda "s'acca argia" (vaca malhada), mas da evolução da palavra latina "Sacraria".

🇬🇧: Have you ever visited a place just because the name sounded good? Well, my visit to Castelsardo was like that.
I am currently living in Sassari and in one of my walks around the city I heard a group of people talking about a town called Castelsardo. I immediately associated the name with a medieval town, with a lot of history, very typical, near the sea, things I love.
So, without doing any previous research I decided to buy a bus ticket and visit the town. Result, I didn’t regret, it was an amazing experience that by far exceeded my expectations.
I think the photos speak for themselves, it's a beautiful place with a lot to offer, I recommend it. What about you? Have you ever done a trip like this?
🇵🇹: Alguma vez visitaram um sítio só porque o nome vos soava bem? Pois, a minha visita a Castelsardo foi assim.
Atualmente estou a viver em Sassari e num dos meus passeios pela cidade ouvi um grupo de pessoas falarem de uma cidade chamada Castelsardo. Associe de imediato o nome a uma cidade medieval, cheia de história, típica e com vista para o mar, tudo coisas de que adoro. Pois bem, sem fazer nenhuma pesquisa prévia decidi comprar um bilhete de autocarro e ir visitar a cidade.
Resultado, não me arrependi, foi uma experiência incrível e que superou em muito as minhas expectativas.
Acho que as fotos falam por si, é uma cidade linda com muito para oferecer, recomendo vivamente.
E vocês? Já fizeram alguma viagem assim?

Travel to Sardinia for Easter 2021. Is it possible?

Sardinia is currently one of the few areas of Europe with low pandemic numbers, and therefore most activities were recently opened to the public. The weather is sweet, it feels like spring, and we enjoy open-air activities. Nevertheless, besides official limitations to travel from you country, in order to enter Sardinia you should meet at least one the following criteria:
1-being vaccinated and able to show proof;
2-being negative to a recent (48hours) test, and show official proof of it;
There is a discussion about test administered upon arrival, but I suggest NOT to rely on it.

Once in Sardinia, you will be best to have a tour designed for you by us, here at Travel Motus. You'd get the best out of your time here, legendary assistance, local insiders' hints and smiles.
