Christina Mifsud, born in San Francisco, California and raised in Hollister, first came to Italy in August of 1991 during her Junior Year at Santa Clara University through Loyola University of Chicago's Rome program. While in Rome, she studied art history and as her journals can attest:

"I studied at the Pantheon - fun again - I also helped
this older American couple with

the Art History behind
the Pantheon - it was great - it also planted the seed
for me - to stay in Rome - or well come back to be a
tour guide for Americans - that would be so much fun!"
(Oct. 5th 1991). Christina returned to Santa Clara University and upon completion of her undergraduate degree in Art History spent the following year in Marseille, France as a nanny in the village of Allauch while studying at the Alliance Française. In 1994, she was accepted as one of seven students in the Italian Renaissance Art History Graduate Program at Syracuse University in the state of New York with the final research and symposium in Florence, Italy during 1995. She has since lived in Florence from January 1995 and worked with over 30 US University programs teaching Art History and in 2007 passed a course and exams to become an authorized Tour Guide for Florence. Christina's Florence Page serves as a way to maintain contact with all of you who have visited Florence and allowed Christina to share her adopted city with you. Each of you have enriched Christina's life and your support of her work has allowed her to continue what she loves to do the most ..... share Florence with others.

I was chosen to participate in the first ever cohort from the University of Malta Winter School to study the archives of the Knights of Malta at the Archivio di Stato di Firenze.

It has been an amazing week.

My perfect day off today learning Petrarch’s script from the 14thC with in Florence.

I used to be a great calligrapher … but with life, raising my son, work and so much to do .. I needed a refresher course.

I learned so much today. But sadly, I don’t have the hand nor the eyes that I had 30 years ago…

Marseille, France. My home from September 1993 to July 1994. This visit this week was my first since 1999. A vibrant port teaming with diversity, history and beauty. You can’t describe it until you experience it. Merci Marseille … Thank you for the living memories inside my heart 💙

The beautiful women of Baroque Art ~ Spring Semester is winding down so we ended at the Trevi Fountain and threw our coins in together. This image was take without editing or filters… and why being 20 in Rome is magical. That was me in 1991 and I know I would do anything to go back in time and relive my moment in Rome and at the Trevi. So…. This is why I teach there today and why I love it so… look at those gorgeous women with their lives ahead of them and the wonder and hope in their smiles ~

Orvieto in the snow. The Cathedral, a splendid hybrid of Romanesque architecture and magnificent Gothic details. Mosaics, relief sculptures and bronzes tell the stories of Genesis, Prophets, Mary, Jesus and Judgement. Inside, visitors marvel at Luca Signorelli’s Scenes of the Last Judgement with faithful rising and sinful driven into the depths of hell. One step forward and many steps back. Although tourism is slowly coming back, tour requests are coming in and I’m out and about with teaching in Rome and tours in Florence - we are all heavy hearted for the destruction and devastation just 1000 miles from here. We are living with anxiety and worry while trying to get back to working full time.

This putto reflects my sentiment. I found this little gem in the Church of San Francesca a Ripa in Rome.

My trip to Puglia. This is Locorotondo. I took this image of a typical street where the locals tend to their cyclamen so that the streets are decorated even in the winter. I accompanied a client for a few days, gave tours, drove all over the region and enjoyed every minute.

We’ve lost another great Master Craftsman here in Florence today - Maestro Bruno Lastrucci pietre dure inlay artist …. His masterpieces of the landscapes and monuments of Florence however live on in what was called in the 16thC “la pittura eterna”…. Thank you for sharing your talent and kind and generous heart with all of us….
