Looking for ideas for the weekend in Florence?
I highly recommend visiting the Alphonse Mucha exhibition at the Museo degli Innocenti. And if you can't make it, you have time until April 2024!
Who was Alphonse Mucha? Surely you have already heard his name.
Mucha was born in the Czech Republic in 1860 and died in 1939 a few months after the outbreak of war.
A skilled draftsman, he studied in Vienna, Munich and Paris and found his first successes with lithographs for theater productions featuring the beautiful Sarah Bernhardt. She was his first Muse.
During his artistic career he devoted himself to posters, advertisements, jewelry, objects, photos, lithographs, paintings and much more.
He developed his own style with sensual models, floral designs, folk motifs, light colors and linear, specular decorations.
This style would later be called Art Nouveau and become popular throughout Europe. Art must be accessible and clear to everyone according to Mucha.
The exhibition traces Mucha's life chronologically with posters, photographs, objects, video installations and offers a comprehensive look at the artist's interests.
Also on his passion for symbolism, occultism and membership of Freemasonry.
It is an exhibition that will appeal to many and for those who wish to delve deeper, it offers many insights.
Also on display are various objects by Galileo Chini, one of the best known representatives of Art Nouveau in Italy.
The light is right, the information is clear, the setting admirable. I would really recommend this wonderful exhibition.

Today I show you Casa 🏡 Martelli, a well preserved property, belonged to the one of the most important families in Florence, Martelli which means hammers 🛠.
📍 Donatello worked for them in the 15th century and they were in good terms with the Medici family.
📍 The last descendent, one of three sisters, died in 1986 leaving the property to the Church.
Now, it's the property of the Italian State and since 2009, it's possible to visit the house.
📍 During the tour, you will have the possibility to jump into the past, admiring the frescoes, the paintings, the furniture, the pictures.
📍 There are still some amazing artworks inside by Mino da Fiesole, Piero Cosimo, Domenico Beccafumi, Luca Giordano, Salvator Rosa, Brueghel, Elisabetta Siriani and many others.
HOW TO VISIT ❗
For the moment, it's open only on Saturday morning and the guided tour starts every hour from 9AM.
I recommend you to be there 20 minutes earlier. ⌚

Today I show you the church of Santa Maria del Carmine in the Oltrarno district.
It's famous for housing the outstanding Renaissance frescoes in the Brancacci Chapel painted by Masaccio and Masolino da Panicale.
But you can enter the church freely to admire amazing ceiling decorations.
The Corsini Chapel is a reel barrocco pearl!
The church displays some interesting paintings (Vasari, Poccetti, Butteri) and its facade was never completed.
