Naturally, a classic tour of Volterra begins in Piazza dei Priori, the political and institutional heart of the city, built in the 13th century. The Palazzo dei Priori dominates the entire square and is considered the oldest municipal building in Tuscany and still today the seat of the municipality of Volterra and houses the Civic Museum, where fundamental works of art are preserved. The religious center of Volterra with the Duomo and the Baptistery of San Giovanni is located behind the Palazzo dei Priori.
After a pleasant walk you will arrive with your local guide at Porta Fiorentina, outside you will find an exceptional testimony of Roman art, which still appears intact: the Roman theater of Vallebona. Another fundamental destination is the Guarnacci archaeological museum, which preserves a mysterious bronze statue, called the Ombra della Sera, its shape has become a symbol of Volterra. Finally you will enjoy a spectacular view from the balcony of Piazza dei Martiri della Libertà: a natural window overlooking the vast countryside around Volterra and from where sometimes with the right light you can see the sea far away on the horizon.
In the morning a driver will pick you up at your hotel and will take you to the outskirts of Siena, where you will meet up with your local licensed guide with your electric bikes – Bosch or Yamaha motors – (we are using high quality bikes, hybrid or mountain bikes, Haibike, Cannondale or similar). We will meet just outside the city walls to avoid the heavy traffic. We will travel on secondary quiet and peacefully roads, both on asphalt and dirt tracks.
You will be able to see and feel the path of the famous “Strade Bianche” and “l’Eroica”, running along wide valleys of vineyards and olive groves, rows of cypress trees and classic Tuscany countryside. Feel free to choose whichever distance you would prefer: 10/20/25 or 30+ km. Chianti allows us to appreciate unforgettable landscapes at every corner. We suggest continuing for about 25 km until you reach a renowned winery producing excellent local wine.
A historic villa, where you can appreciate the excellent tasting, accompanied by some fresh local products. The breeze is refreshing all year round! After this pleasant break, you can change your clothes and in about 20-30 minutes you will be in the city center of Siena for a guided tour and an introduction to the tradition of the Palio with “behind the scenes” stories.
Late afternoon when many of the tourists start to leave the city is the perfect time to enjoy a pleasant walk in Siena, with the sunset lights. You will meet your guide at 5.30PM at the Basilica of San Domenico, from there you will be accompanied to admire one of the most beautiful views of the city, the perfect place to take a nice souvenir photo.
You will continue along the continuous ups and downs that characterize the historic center of Siena, until you arrive in Piazza del Campo, the large shell-shaped square where every year the Palio takes place, the splendid horse race, of which your guide will tell you secrets and curiosity, you will then climb the highest hill where the majestic Duomo stands out, made even more fascinating by the evening lights and you will end your walk in an elegant café where you can quench your thirst with a tasty aperitif.
A guided tour of the Uffizi is an opportunity to discover the history of the city of Florence and its evolution through a collection of works of art of inestimable value. These infinite collections surround the pictorial works that have been exhibited inside the rooms of the palace, following a chronological order, so as to make the visitor experience the illusion of a journey where the story is told through images and colors of every painting. The Gallery entirely occupies the first and second floors of the large building constructed between 1560 and 1580 and designed by Giorgio Vasari.
It is famous worldwide for its outstanding collections of ancient sculptures and paintings (from the Middle Ages to the Modern period). The collections of paintings from the 14th-century and Renaissance period include some absolute masterpieces: Giotto, Simone Martini, Piero della Francesca, Beato Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Botticelli, Mantegna, Correggio, Leonardo, Raffaello, Michelangelo and Caravaggio, in addition to many precious works by European painters (mainly German, Dutch and Flemish).
Moreover, the Gallery boasts an invaluable collection of ancient statues and busts from the Medici family, which adorns the corridors and consists of ancient Roman copies of lost Greek sculptures. Let your authorized local guide guide you on this journey and personalize the tour by choosing the works or collections you want to focus on the most.

The visit will end in Piazza del Campo, considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world, where for centuries the fascinating Palio has taken place, the famous horse race which sees the districts within which the historic center of Siena is divided as protagonists. Palio di Siena: all the things you need to know about Italy's most famous horse race
The Palio di Siena is one of Tuscany’s most awaited summer events. Boasting centuries-old origins, Italy's most famous horse race takes place twice a year in piazza del Campo, Siena’s main medieval, shell-shaped square. The Palio has for centuries been a competition among the city’s districts, called contrade. This historic tradition dates to 1633, but every year Siena relives the event with the zeal of its past. Want to visit the famous horse event? Here are the main things you should know before seeing the Palio di Siena.
This tour is suitable for families with children who want to learn more about the tradition of the Palio through play. With the help of your guide, children can challenge themselves by trying to recognize the greatest number of contrade coats of arms, with their very different animals, from the Panther to the Caterpillar, the Dragon to the Snail, the Porcupine and many others that you will discover. You’ll hear about rivalries and alliances, how a horse is blessed in church, or how long the celebration of a victory lasts.
Children will be able to learn how to play "barberi", a traditional Sienese game with wooden balls with the colors of the contrade. You will get an inside look at the fascinating world of the contrade, visit the museum and the church of one of them, where real works of art are kept together with relics linked to the history of the "contradaioli" (participants), the drums, the flags and the "drappelloni" (sashes), won over the centuries. You will learn about the importance of the "contradaiolo" baptism in Siena and where it takes place. Finally you will reach Piazza del Campo where your guide will reveal all kinds of secrets and interesting facts about the race.
Crete Senesi and Val d’Orcia: a day between Pienza and Montepulciano
We will discover Pienza, the city built by Pope Pius II in the 15th century as a utopian Renaissance town and today famous for its cheese, Pecorino di Pienza. Along other roads with breathtaking views, we will arrive in Montepulciano from the lower gate to the Piazza Grande with Michelozzo’s Palazzo Comunale and the Duomo with a tasting of the excellent Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
We will accompany you on the discovery of the lunar landscape of the Crete Senesi, driving along one of the most scenic roads in Italy, before arriving in the Val d’Orcia, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. An incredible combination of farms, hills dotted with cypress trees, gardens and vineyards meticulously maintained; historical centers extraordinarily well preserved with architectural wonders of the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance.

Crete Senesi and Val d’Orcia: a day between Pienza and Montepulciano
We will accompany you on the discovery of the lunar landscape of the Crete Senesi, driving along one of the most scenic roads in Italy, before arriving in the Val d’Orcia, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. An incredible combination of farms, hills dotted with cypress trees, gardens and vineyards meticulously maintained; historical centers extraordinarily well preserved with architectural wonders of the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance.
