At the beginning of via Nazionale in Cortona there is a place that looks an enchanted Tuscan forest: it is Antonio Massarutto 's Art Gallery.
Inspired by nature and the Tuscan landscape, Massarutto makes animal sculptures from organic, plant, reclaimed and traditional materials.
"His works are not reproductions - they are breathing animals". And indeed, entering the gallery feels as if you are immersing yourself in Tuscan nature.
Tuscany to admire and to wear : the artist Massarutto also makes bronze (hypoallergenic) and silver jewelry inspired by the animal world and local culture, such as the collections dedicated to Etruscan finds and the olive tree.

MISTERO A MONTEPULCIANO
Durante il brindisi di benvenuto in un noto locale a Montepulciano, il titolare si è improvvisamente accasciato privo di vita....non è stato un malore, qualcuno ha pianificato il suo omicidio.
L' arguzia dell' ispettore e gli sforzi di tutti i presenti non sono bastati a scoprire il colpevole.

Tra una pietanza e l' altra, a suon di indizi, sarà stato merito dell' ottimo vino o del cibo da leccarsi i baffi, ma il proprietario del locale è magicamente tornato in buona salute !

Un divertentissimo gioco a squadre per passare una serata alternativa e fare nuove amicizie.

Se sei appassionato/a del genere giallo e ti piace il vino sei la persona ideale per risolvere i misteri della Toscana.

Monastic complex founded by St. Romuald around 1012 in the heart of the Casentino forest. Important place of prayer and sharing. Fulcrum of the development of apothecary art, inside the monastery is finely decorated with admirable works of art, Giorgio Vasari became its official artist.

During World War II, the monastery of Camaldoli became the custodian of art along with the manor of Poppi. Hundreds of the world's most famous works of art were hidden here between 1940 and 1945 to prevent them from being stolen-the story of this extraordinary rescue is told by the exhibition "Michelangelo kidnapped-masterpieces at war from the Uffizi to Casentino" set up in Poppi ( until January 28, 2024 )

📖 The legend tells that two brothers inherited a land which stood a chapel, guardian of a miraculous image of the Madonna. Each of the brothers wanted the chapel to be in their half of the land, thus,not agreeing, after mutual insults and blows, they decided to fight in a duel ⚔️

The Virgin did not want brotherly blood to flow due to her chapel, so during the night Angelic hands lifted the Tabernacle and, leaving only the foundations on the ground, placed it on the hill of the Vertighe.

🌄 In the morning , when the two brothers realized what had happened, they hugged each other crying.

It was a shepherdess who, going up the hill to graze the flock, saw the chapel where there was nothing before.
🔔 The bells of all the churches began to ring and people turned to see the miracle.

Today the image of the Madonna and the remains of the chapel are kept in an ancient Marian Sanctuary enriched by beautiful works of art.

📍The Sanctuary is located a few steps from the toll booth of the Autostrada del Sole. Every year in August the procession and the blessing of the motorway take place; religious functions, fireworks and the "Fiera dell'Assunta" with many stalls of typical products.

Monte S.Egidio, the mountain of Cortona, one of the favorite destinations for our Sunday trips. At the foot of the mountain we find "Le celle", the first convent built by S.Francesco , which still hosts pilgrims today.
A little further up , the Basilica of Santa Margherita soars in the sky did and solemn; it holds one of the most precious "treasures" of the city: the body of it's Patron Saint Margaret.
Going further up, on the top of the hill, the majestic Fortress of Girifalco, existing since the time of the Etruscans, transformed into a defensive place by the Medici; today it has become an international cultural center.

... 📍Here we are in S.Anna in Camprena, a former Benedictine Olivetan monastery of the 15th century. To visit because... there is a precious silence, to admire the beautiful frescoes of Il Sodoma (1503), because here were shot some famous scenes of "The English Patient".
The monumental complex today houses a beautiful farmhouse.
➡️ The tour continues, on the way back two more timeless villages:
📍 Castelmuzio with its thirteenth century tower (excellent restaurant), followed by
📍 Petroio, the capital of terracotta with its artifacts scattered throughout the village.
Inside the Museum of terracotta is shown the continuity between the ancient techniques, preserved and handed down by the potter, and recent methods.

🍽️ At this point it will be time for lunch.
You are spoiled of choice, the local restaurants are all noteworthy.

This very relaxing tour will take about three hours, depending on the number of stops made.
