✨ Situato ai piedi dei Monti Cimini, il piccolo e grazioso borgo di Vitorchiano, in provincia di Viterbo, è tra le mete da non perdere nella Tuscia: passeggiate tra i vicoli colorati e le graziose stradine che collegano il centro con il lato più esterno del paese. Qui respirerete un'atmosfera d'altri tempi e potrete godere di affacci unici sulla vallata circostante.

🇬🇧 Nestled in the foothills of the Cimini Mountains, the small and charming village of Vitorchiano, in the province of Viterbo, is one of the must-see destinations in Tuscia: stroll through the colourful alleys and pretty streets that connect the centre with the outer side of the village. Here you will breathe in an atmosphere of yesteryear and enjoy unique views of the surrounding valley.

Tutti a Soriano nel Cimino per la 56^ Sagra delle castagne!
Dal 29 settembre al 15 ottobre torna una delle più suggestive manifestazioni storico-rievocative d’Italia. La sagra nasce nel 1968 e abbraccia la rievocazione degli eventi più significativi della storia del paese e l’omaggio al protagonista del territorio, la castagna dei monti Cimini. Oltre alle degustazioni di castagne, dunque, sono in calendario il corteo storico, il Palio delle Contrade e visite guidate.

🇬🇧 Everyone in Soriano nel Cimino for the 56th Chestnut Festival!
From Sept. 29 to Oct. 15, one of Italy's most evocative historical re-enactment events returns. The festival was founded in 1968 and embraces the re-enactment of the most significant events in the history of the town and a tribute to the protagonist of the area, the chestnut of the Cimini mountains. In addition to chestnut tastings, therefore, a historical parade, the Palio delle Contrade and guided tours are on the calendar.

One of my favourite places 😍

Il Giardino dei Tarocchi / The Tarot Garden

This colourful and impressive sculpture garden, created by artist Niki de Saint Phalle, which opened in 1998, is based on the twenty two monumental figures representing the major Arcana of the Tarot cards, one of the artist’s greatest passions.

Located within southern Tuscany and with views over to the Tyrrhenian Sea, the park’s beautiful setting is a monument to Saint Phalle’s wish to express ‘a small Eden where man and woman and nature meet’. The sculptures are both suggestive and evocative representing cards such as the Devil, Sun, Grand Empress and Emperor.

Each one is built using concrete and steel then embellished with mirrors, coloured glass and ceramics creating a magical garden, clearly inspired by Antonio Gaudi’s Parc Guell in Barcellona and by our nearby Park of Monsters in Bomarzo.

Set within the valley below the town of Bomarzo and overlooked by the impressive Palazzo Orsini, the town’s famous Parco dei Mostri (Park of Monsters) is a bewitching world of surreal and mythical rock sculptures. Founded by Prince Vicino Orsini, this magical wood was created in memory of his wife in the late 16th Century.

The natural volcanic bedrock was carved and transformed into huge creatures derived from mythology. Throughout the wood’s winding paths and terraces, in and amongst the temple and leaning house can be found; a dragon, a turtle, Hannibal’s elephant and an ogre, to name but a few, creating a truly unique setting. Artists have continued to be inspired by this park, including the Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dalì.

This one of a kind botanical garden is a must-see when holidaying with us in the spring time. The nearby town of Vitorchiano’s Peony Garden is set within 15 hectares of stunning, peaceful countryside and is home to a vast and rare collection of peonies. The Centro Botanico Moutan houses over 250,000 plants including 600 different varieties of one of my favourites, suffruticosa peonies. And when in bloom they are a spectacle! 🌺🌸🌺
