I was deeply moved by Pelin's World's wonderful introduction of Sicily in the August issue of Çizme magazine, Turkey's culture and art e-magazine. The interview article was so emotional that I found myself reading it multiple times. (I even used Google Translate to convert it into English, and it was a very successful translation.) You can find the link in Pelin's World's bio. I'd like to express my gratitude to , the magazine's founder.
This past weekend was probably one of the most relaxed and fulfilling weekends I've had. I had the opportunity to connect with like-minded people who I consider my guests and we spent time discussing history, art, culture, and the importance of a sustainable tourism world. For the first time, I shared Pelin’s World with a family, and it was a wonderful experience.
I have visited Catania numerous times. It is a city steeped in history, bustling with the vibrant energy of a typical Sicilian city, and brimming with diversity and originality. It always transports me back to ancient times, and witnessing the city's transformation over the years never fails to impress me. Chatting with a craftsman from centuries past feels like a journey through time. During my last visit, Master Pietro shared with me that the square where the esteemed Massimo Bellini theatre now stands was once the central bus station when he was a child. Maybe you can say, is it very important information, I think it is important for the connection with the city, even if you are not from there.
We often invest a significant amount of time, effort, and money in exploring new worlds, don’t we? However, based on my own experiences, I’ve found that some of the most overlooked places - like small shops, unassuming buildings, and nameless streets - are filled with captivating stories. These are the places where the most beautiful photographs are often taken, and where you’ll find the rich tapestry of human experiences. This is also where iconic “Made in Italy” brands were born. This is my world, and this is why I don’t just offer tours of Sicily; I provide an opportunity to truly live and experience it. I act as the intermediary and the bridge to your soul, enabling you to immerse yourself in the emotional moments of travel.

“As Cinderella said, ‘A shoe can change your life.’ The shoes I’m holding in the photos truly changed something in me. The brand has an inspiring birth story and aims to embody certain values. Most importantly, on 19-07-2024 at 19:00, they will be sharing the story of their handmade, high-quality shoes. These shoes are woven entirely with the creativity of the artisans from their homeland. They are sharing this with you and with the travelers who come to the beautiful island of Sicily. I invite you to join me for an aperitif to hear more about .meraviglia . Stay tuned this week for more details.”
Ortigia is a captivating island that beautifully blends the modernity of the West with the enigmatic allure of the East. The artists art curators and visual presentation graphic designers at the Contemporary Art Festival exhibit a deep appreciation for the island's cultural values. Their passion for the island is evident as they share stories, engage in conversations, and draw inspiration from its rich history and culture, offering a glimpse into both our past and our future.
There are unsung heroes in unknown places; their worlds are essential for cultural heritage. My greatest joy is being able to share these places and people with you.
Passion for art
As mentioned in his biography on the enzonieli.it website, Enzo Nieli's works reflect his ability to apply the wisdom acquired through the legacy of knowledge passed down from great master craftsmen, making him a worthy heir to their expertise.

To truly understand a culture, we must delve deep into its timeless connections.
For a different Sicily
In the magical Ortigia, among the alleys steeped in history, I discovered a timeless bond ✨. Holding a Sicilian puppet in my hands, made by , I feel the tradition and art that cross generations, bringing with them stories of courage and passion. ❣️
Every detail, every detail of the puppet, tells of a past that still lives today, uniting hearts and cultures through the centuries.

I just wanted to share with you the story of my favorite rag doll, Pelin’s World. It was made by my friends from a dress that I haven’t worn in over 15 years. I absolutely love it because not only is it my very own toy version, but it’s also environmentally friendly and has a unique story behind it.
On this , I took a moment to appreciate the beauty of Ortigia Duomo with Pelin by my side. Sitting on the pillars from the 5th century, I reflected on the harmony of history, culture, and nature. It’s up to us to protect our planet and preserve the heritage left to us for future generations. Let’s support artisans by buying their handcrafted works and spread awareness to inspire others to take action.
Let me tell you a story about my friend Carla. When I first met her, she was creating these beautiful ceramic earrings in a workshop owned by the most renowned ceramics master of Siracusa. She didn’t have an oven of her own, so she needed to use the workshop. But now, she and her husband have their own place in Ortigia! It’s amazing to see how far she has come. This summer, they are excited to announce the opening of their workshop, and they invite you all to join them. We look forward to seeing you there!
Although mythological stories may seem like fairy tales, they often contain hidden truths. Similarly, handmade objects can hold the most significance.
When you step into a workshop and inhale the dust of that world, and when you converse with the artist, you form a unique connection with the item you wish to purchase. I hope this awareness will continue to grow over time.
Understanding an artist, listening to his story and experiencing miracle moments
It is a great feeling to share with you the places that soothe my soul, and more importantly, to get to know the rich Sicilian culture in depth through the world of valuable artists and craftsmen, and finally to get to the bottom of civilizations and know yourself.
Art tourism is a form of travel that revolves around engaging with artistic and cultural activities, in touristic or historical settings. Sometimes referred to as creative tourism, It involves visiting destinations that also feature art display. It offers a unique travel experience and contributes to the conservation and reappropriation of cultural spaces that might have otherwise been lost

Places where history, art and craftsmanship are intertwined are good for the soul, it is an indescribable feeling, just as someone who participates in an artisan tour expresses his admiration with his gaze at the end of the tour.... It is possible to feel sensations that cannot be described in words while travelling, are you ready to explore Sicily?
In 2021, I was interviewing artisans just for pleasure, and my dear artist friend was supporting me incredibly and always whispering to me to continue on this path, with the support I received, Pelin’s World started to move forward on its path, and I cannot say that I have never met anyone as deep as her, who is in love with her profession and art because the creators of the whole art and craft world are extraordinary people, but Stefania is a very extraordinary artist.

The deepest corners of life are dusty like this, full of different shades of brown, so philosophical, so intriguing, so aesthetic, so perfect and at the same time not so perfect, this is my favourite world, are you ready to join me? This summer will be great, my tour dates for spring, summer and autumn have already been finalised, I am so happy that people do not see travelling as just travelling, long live handmade!!!
Are you ready to visit artisans’ workshops to discover the power of handmade and the secrets of Sicily?
I had a very nice conversation yesterday with Nicolò, who knows the value of art and craftsmanship, who is nourished by art, who has turned his deep knowledge of philosophy and literature, which he learnt at a young age, and the story of the land to which he belongs, into a way of life.
For him, art is for everyone and without limits. After living in Belgium for a while, he decided to return to his native land, I will share the details of our conversation with the interview I had with him.
Since I am a little homesick these days, I wanted to bring you which is a pure, 100/100 artisan brand that is progressing to become a world brand from my own country, when Sicilian lemons meet the artisanship of Turkey.

When you visit a country, visit the forgotten artisans of the narrow streets because they are the ones who made that country! Do this, not to honour them but to honour yourself!

Why do people want to visit artisan workshops?
Handmade objects have a story to tell. They have been touched, hammered, thrown, blown and carved by human hands.
Furthermore artisans often come from generations of other artisans . They are like a living encyclopedia, it is a privilege to know them closely because they are very different from ordinary people.
The summer season never seems to end in Sicily, but of course, the days of heavy tourism are behind us, so what am I doing these days when the beaches and breathtakingly beautiful cities are extremely quiet?
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who shared my page in the last months, who showed interest and shared their thoughts with me, who came to Sicily and met me.
I made some good contacts for the coming spring and summer months, I introduced all the masters of crafts I knew to someone else somehow and brought them into contact with other nationalities, each meeting was a new inspiration for me.
For 2024 🌎I am working to organise retreats, educational programs for children and art tours in the still sunny and calm atmosphere of Sicily, of course, I confess that I need your support even more on these winter days, which are very quiet for every craftsman and artist: so more shares and followers 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited the magical island in 1787 on a 2-year trip through Italy. It was an escape from his life in Germany and the wide fame that arose after publishing his first works.
He declared his affection for Sicily in his private diaries, as well as letters to friends – those later resulted in a book called Italian Journey:
“The purity of the contours, the softness of everything, the exchange of soft colors, the harmonious unity of the sky with the sea and the sea to the land… who saw them once, shall possess them for a lifetime.”

Le Pen Pal, an environmentally friendly brand @lepenpal that I really like, has decided to close its business after about 10 years. I can imagine the reasons behind this decision. Unfortunately, very few people seem to appreciate their environmentally conscious products. The culture of consumerism is wiping out handmade and healthy products. Until September 30, there is a discount on all products. Online sales also available @lepenpal

A modest description that expresses in simple words the pleasure and satisfaction that his profession has given him throughout his life. A craftsman lives in his dimensions, says the great Master Gianni, adding that the satisfaction of the customer is above all else, but the most important thing is the sense of satisfaction he feels for the history and period to which each piece he renovates because it is a great satisfaction to keep the cultural heritage alive.

I was invited to the meeting of the World Federation of Tourist Guides yesterday. This year they are holding their meeting in Sicily, on the island where I live #ortigiaisland #ortigiasiracusa #sicily One of the main topics of the meeting is cultural, sustainable travel. We had a great chat with Meltem, Turkey’s delegate chairperson, during the artisan tour. Based on her years of experience, she says that the new generation is more sensitive when travelling and prefers sustainable travel. Especially meeting the locals, discovering local brands and of course choosing a holiday where they will have unforgettable new experiences will undoubtedly lead to new trends in the tourism sector. Thank you @meltirmak @mariacalvosaley @bijouets

Giuseppe Baglieri learned how to make baskets from his grandfather at the age of seven, now retired and enjoying every day with his grandchildren. Their grandchildren are also enjoying his baskets. The link to the interview I did with him is in the bio. You have to watch it.
