📍Alberobello Itinerary

✔️ Start your route from the largest trulli in the town – Trullo Sovrano. Visit and explore the interior to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the past of these unique places.

✔️ Find another treasure – trullo of 1600 year.

✔️ Moving towards the old center of Alberobello, you will see the stunning building of la Basilica dei Santi Medici. Inside the church, which combines two architectural styles, Baroque and neoclassicism, there are two wooden statues from 1782 and 1784 and relics containing fragments of St. Cosma and St. Domian.

✔️ Reach a panoramic square with stunning views of the old Alberobello Rione Monti with its numerous snow-white cone trulli. A must-have place for photos!

✔️ Head to the main Piazza del Popolo, encircled by stunning houses. Strolling through the narrow streets lets you soak in the city's atmosphere. Be sure to explore the quaint shops offering local crafts and souvenirs.

✔️ Stop at one of the trulli bakeries for a cup of coffee and taste the local sweet pastizzi (pies with different fillings), and for lunch order orecchiette (traditional pasta in the form of ears), burrata (fresh cheese with a soft composition inside), taralli (dry biscuits with olive oil).

✔️ Visit the Museo dei trulli, which will tell you even more about the history and architecture of these unique buildings and about the life of the locals in the past.

✔️ Take a look inside to St. Anthony's Church, which is also built in the Trulli style and is considered one of the most important architectural landmarks of the city.

✔️ In the evening you can stroll through the empty streets, enjoying the silence and the view of the illuminated trulli and sunset.

✔️ Order an aperitif or an outdoor dinner and enjoy the view of the old part of the city.

📍Cantine Polmento Castanzo in Sicily stands out as the most refined winery among the three I am discussing today. The ambiance is more personal, and the scenery and interior details are even more remarkable.

Everything here is a testament to Etna. It feels as though you are alone with this mighty volcano, uncovering some of its incredible mysteries. The property spans eighteen hectares, segmented into various districts and slopes, and further divided into small plots, each uniquely shaped by the lava flows deposited over time.

Follow me and I will show you several wineries that are worth visiting during the Christmas & New Year holidays!🎄

📍Gambino Vini - winery in Sicily is one of the most welcoming and renowned wineries. You can visit with a large group and will always be greeted warmly in the hall or on the terrace with expansive panoramic windows, offering a unique view during an unforgettable tasting experience.

This is one of my favorite places, and whenever I visit, I always feel at home, particularly because of the family – the owners of these vineyards! The Gambino family: pragmatic, direct, and sincere. Their connection with the land, the product, and the guests is always rooted in authenticity and Mediterranean warmth. A family that cherishes these places and vineyards, expressing them directly in their wines. Among the first to take a chance on the unpredictable opportunities of interpreting these lands, they have gained much from this long-term experience. Always present and leading the way are Maria, Vittorio, Maria Grazia, Philadelfo, and Francesco.

📍Cantine Murgo

Established in 1860. The winery is situated at an altitude of 500 m above sea level, offering a picturesque view of Etna on one side and the Ionian Sea on the other. The vineyards cover 25 hectares and are primarily dedicated to producing Etna DOC wine. Here, you can savor a variety of wines known for their sophistication, elegance, minerality, and aromatic complexity, each paired with appropriate snacks: an assortment of local cheeses, sausages, and seasonal vegetables. If you wish, you can also order a complete lunch featuring the renowned Sicilian pasta and hot meat dishes 😋

Additionally, you can reserve one of the hotel rooms to immerse yourself in the breathtaking nature, fresh and clean air, and enjoy walks in a vast area surrounded by cypress trees and wooded areas. In summer, there is also a swimming pool available.

📍Etna Vulcano, Sicily

The soil on the slopes of Etna is highly fertile, as each eruption deposits ash or even lava enriched with mineral fertilizers. The climate here is ideal for cultivating vineyards: winters are moderately cool, summers are sufficiently warm, and the sun shines almost year-round, while there is ample precipitation for a successful harvest. Etna, snow-covered in winter, remains an active volcano, with its peak reaching approximately 3,323 meters. Its height fluctuates periodically due to frequent eruptions.

📍Ortigia, Sicily, The Ancient Castle – Castello Maniace - deserves your special attention!

Similar to the castles in Bari, Trani, Barletta, Brindisi, Augusta, and Catania, Castello Maniace stands on the coast, overlooking the sea on one side and the city on the other. Positioned at the far end of Ortigia, at the entrance of Porto Grande, it occupies a highly strategic position where military outposts have been established over the city's extensive history.

The name Castello Maniace originates from George Maniakes, a Byzantine general who briefly seized the city from the Arabs in 1038.

The fortress has witnessed several significant events, including the signing of a contract for the University of Naples construction and the hosting of the Aragon family in 1288, during which Peter II of Aragon was crowned.

The construction of Frederick II's castle took place from 1232 to 1240.

During almost the entire 15th century, the castle served as a prison.

The castle was handed over to the Kingdom of Savoy and served as a storage facility for military equipment until the Second World War.

Make sure to include a visit to this fortress in your itinerary to experience the spirit and history of numerous tales, as it has always been the most significant one, capturing the essence of the ancient city!📌

🍕Pizza Margherita

This classic Neapolitan creation features a thin crust, topped with vibrant red tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, fragrant basil leaves, and a drizzle of olive oil. The simplicity of its ingredients allows the flavors to shine, making it a must-try for any pizza lover.

🌱 Pasta con Pesto

Of Ligurian origin, it is now widespread throughout Italy and beyond. Raise your hand if you don't like pesto pasta, both in the classic version of basil and pine nuts, and in several versions with arugula, almonds and so on. This is the perfect first course for summer because it is fresh, nutritious and versatile.

🥩 Bistecca alla fiorentina

Fiorentina is unquestionably the queen of Tuscan gastronomy! To make a great Florentine steak, it is crucial to focus on two key aspects: selecting a top-quality piece of meat and cooking it rare...The Florentine steak is cooked on the grill over a flameless ember, it should not be pierced with a fork and should be turned once, salting the cooked part first on one side then on the other.

🥘 Risotto Alla Milanese

Next on our list is the decadent Risotto Alla Milanese. Originating from Milan, this creamy saffron-infused risotto is a comforting dish that marries the richness of butter, Parmesan cheese, and the subtle aroma of saffron. Each spoonful is a taste of pure indulgence.

🍧 Tiramisu

No culinary journey through Italy would be complete without indulging in a slice of Tiramisu. This heavenly dessert layers espresso-soaked ladyfingers with creamy mascarpone cheese, dusted with cocoa powder. The juxtaposition of bitter coffee and sweet cream makes Tiramisu a perfect ending to any meal.

Join us as we embark on a gastronomic journey through the diverse flavors and traditional dishes that define Italian cooking. Follow our blog on link in bio and find more must try dishes! ❤️
