DolomitiGT Climbing towards the Lerosa fork means entering the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites from its wild eastern offshoots, with mountains with features such as to recall the distant lands dreamed of as a child. They are not the Dolomites with crystallized forms in our imagination. The colors of ocher, gold, copper, huge accumulations of rock fragments now exhausted and overcome by the elements, constitute one of the environments I love most. The Castel de Ra Valbones, the Croda Rossa Pizora, the Rote Wand draw the border line between Veneto and Trentino Alto-Adige with the nearby Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park. I pedal with the little light left, I open my nostrils to enjoy the unmistakable scent of the coming storm. The wind enters the old wood and swells the webs of hopeful spiders. The saddle is an exposed pass, I put the tent away from the large larches. From the west it rises, swells, falls, thunder gets angry. He beats his fist so hard that it is impossible not to listen to him. The storm finds here a perfect orography with a stage made up of mountains up to 3000mt high that close a humid valley in a semicircle. The hail falls violently, and inside the tent I listen to the head of a record player scratching and hypnotizing. Lightning strikes all around, the earth trembles, conscious listening.
