I read so many post and people offering trips, retreats, etc in Italy by non licensed tour operators. Please know the following:

📢 The Importance of Italian Law on Tour Operators, tours, travel and tourist packages 📢

When putting together two or more services (i.e. accommodation and transfers, guided tour and transfer, any combination) you are automatically selling a tourist package and therefore fall under the law.
I know we all want to share the beauty of Italy but the consequences of not operating correctly are steep.

If you're organizing or booking travel services in Italy, it's crucial to understand that tour operators are regulated by strict laws to protect consumers and ensure high-quality services.

🇮🇹 What Does Italian Law Say?

Tour operators in Italy must comply with Legislative Decree No. 79/2011 (the "Tourism Code") and EU Directive 2015/2302 on package travel. That is when two or more services are provided (i.e. a tour and a transfer). This means they must:

✔️ Be registered with the Ministry of Tourism and/or regional authorities and have a Technical Director.
✔️ Hold a valid business license and comply with financial and legal requirements.( SCIA)
✔️ Provide financial guarantees to protect travelers in case of insolvency or trip cancellations. (BOND)
✔️ Have liability insurance to cover potential issues during the trip.(Polizza RC)

⚠️ Why Is This Important?

🚫 Unregistered tour operators or individuals selling travel packages without proper licensing are operating illegally and may put themselves and travelers at risk.

✅ How to Identify a Legal Tour Operator

Before booking:
🔹 Check if the company is registered with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Tourism (infotrav)
🔹 Ask for their license and insurance details.
🔹 Ensure they comply with EU travel regulations (especially for package tours).
🔹 Look for certifications and industry affiliations (e.g., Fiavet, Assoviaggi, FTO) .

🛑 Beware of Illegal Operators

Some individuals and unlicensed businesses operate without the necessary permits, offering cheap but unregulated tours that lack consumer protection. Booking with them could mean:
❌ No legal recourse if the tour is canceled.
❌ No insurance coverage in case of accidents.
❌ Risk of scams or misleading services.

Always choose licensed professionals to ensure your travel experience is safe, legal, and well-organized!
Just because you have a property or a few friends you wish to organize a trip know the law and the consequences.
If you want to organize a tour of beautiful Italy, ask a licensed tour operator to work with you.

The day after Easter Sunday is called “Pasquetta” (little Easter) and is a day to relax. In fact, that is the main way to celebrate Pasquetta -pack a picnic and head for the country! Hordes of people go to the mountains, the hills, or the beach, or their own family’s country property, to enjoy a picnic or a barbecue outdoors.
Another tradition during the day of Pasquetta is the eggs race, or the a game where players challenge each other by launching hard boiled colored eggs

Happy Easter!
At Easter, Italy is at its best. Traditions, festivals, and customs vary from region to region.
In Veneto, Easter traditions are ancient. Burying red-painted eggs in the fields is a symbol of fertility and is considered to bring a plentiful harvest.
“Fugassa” the sweet Easter bread, has very ancient origins. According to, legend, it was created by a baker from Treviso, who decided to add eggs, butter, and sugar to his bread dough and give it to his customers at Easter. The fugassa is also depicted in the mosaics of St Mark’s Basilica and was given to the family of the bride to be with the engagement ring hidden inside.
Egg too are tradition. There is a local saying “A Pasqua, trista xe la polastra che no la faza el vovo” – at Easter, the hen that does not lay the egg is sad. #
