Vrsic Pass is 10 km long, with 711m elevation gain and 6.9 % average slope (one of the Strava segments).

2025 takes us to Provence and how magic to be riding around the Verdon Gorge again. One never tires of this site!
The Verdon Gorge (French: Gorges du Verdon) is a river canyon located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of Southeastern France.
It is about 25 km long and up to 700 metres deep.

It was formed by the Verdon River, which is named for its turquoise-green colour, one of the location’s distinguishing characteristics.

Located between the towns of Castellane and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, the river has cut a ravine to a depth of 700 meters through the limestone mass.

At the end of the canyon, the Verdon flows into the artificial Lake of Sainte-Croix.

2025 takes us to Austria and what is better than a day on Timmelsjoch (aka Passo Rombo to the Italians )

The Timmelsjoch connects the Ötztal valley in the Austrian state of Tyrol to the Passeier Valley in the Italian province of South Tyrol, as it bridges the saddle point between the Jochköpfl (3,141 metres) and Wurmkogl (3,082 metres) peaks to its northeast and southwest, respectively.

The pass is sometimes called the “secret passage” because it is little-used compared to the much easier and lower Brenner Pass some 25 kilometres to its east, and Reschen Pass some 60 kilometres to its west.

2025 takes us to Switzerland 🇨🇭which we skipped in 2024 but glad to be back.

Of course we will ride the iconic Furka Pass - quite a breathtaking alpine route steeped in history, it boasts a legacy dating back to the 14th century.

It captured the global spotlight in 1964, thanks to Sean Connery’s thrilling portrayal of James Bond in Goldfinger, where the Aston Martin DB5 roared across its hairpin curves.

Sitting at an elevation of 2,431 meters, this iconic pass ranks among the highest and most scenic in the Swiss Alps.

The Furka Pass lies on the Furka Strasse, a 70-kilometer road winding between Brig and Andermatt. Its most dramatic stretch connects Gletsch to Andermatt, weaving through the stunning alpine region of Obergoms.

2025 will take us to Lagos de Covadonga again, a real favourite for our staff. the road ascending from Covadonga to the lakes is a popular climb having been used by Vuelta a España many times in the last 25 years.
Together with Alto de l’Angliru, Lagos de Covadonga is the most important climb in the modern history of the Vuelta. The road that leads to the lakes starts at Covadonga and is 12.6 kilometres long at an average gradient of 7.3% (height gain: 1056 m). The most demanding section is La Huesera, 7 kilometres from the top of the climb, with an average gradient of 15% during 800 meters.
It was featured for the first time in 1983 with the victory of Marino Lejarreta, who was in a fierce battle with Bernard Hinault for overall victory. This was the same Vuelta that saw Hinault, Greg LeMond and Laurent Fignon all riding on the same team.
Stage 7 of the 2023 La Vuelta Femenina ended at Lagos de Covadonga, with Dutch cyclist Demi Vollering placing first.
