Cirio ๐Ÿฅซ๐Ÿฅซ๐Ÿฅซ
Still today, Cirio is one of the big players in the food preservation industry. It all started with Francesco Cirio, who at the age of 14 was working at the Porta Palazzo market and later became an exporter of fresh produce to France and the UK.
His vision was innovative for the time: to preserve food products. And so, in 1856, he founded the first Cirio plant in Turin for preserving products in cans. Today, Cirio is one of the largest companies in Europe and its slogan "As Nature Creates, Cirio Preserves" is testimony to this.

Sambuy Garden ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ

The Sambuy Garden is the perfect place for a relaxing walk, just a short distance from Porta Nuova station. It's located in Piazza Carlo Felice and named after a former mayor of Turin, Ernesto Balbo di Sambuy. With its paths, statues, fountains and a peaceful pond, this French-style garden will make you feel as if you've left the city behind. And a fun fact: the fountain was used to determine which floor of the neighboring buildings received drinking water.

1๏ธโƒฃ 2๏ธโƒฃ What's after eleven? The twelfth stop of our day of the city of !

So you have just walked via Garibaldi and now you are in ( ).

Its name refers to the Albertine Statute which was in force from March 1848 to 1948, when the Italian Constitution was promulgated.
It is a place that tells the history of both Turin and Italy in the nineteenth century. The buildings, in fact, were to host the offices of the Embassies in view of the unification of . This, however, did not happen, because their construction ended after 1864, when the capital of Italy was transferred from Turin to Florence.

Today, like yesterday, the Piazza is a junction and a conjunction between the noble city and the Bourgeois city dwellers, which will inhabit a new Liberty-style district, called Cit Turin (Little Turin), built just beyond Piazza Statuto. There, new characters and new styles will be found.

Here in a watch could decide to make you pay the bill!

In Piazza Castello 15 there is one of the historic of the city, the ๐˜”๐˜ถ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ, which has a curious peculiarity.

Behind the counter, in fact, there is a bizarre clock: the numbers are jumbled and there is only one hand.

What is the function of this watch if it is not to tell us what time it is?
It determines who has to pay the bill.
The rule is that the person who rolls the lowest number pays.

1๏ธโƒฃ 1๏ธโƒฃ Hey, listen to me, I want to introduce you to the eleventh stop of our day of !

It's , one of the most important streets in the center of Turin and connects to .

Its history dates back to Roman times: it was in fact, the Decumano Massimo, the street that connected the city from east to west.

During the Middle Ages it took the name of Via . The "doira" was an exposed artificial canal that cleared the street, because at the time it was customary to throw rubbish directly from the windows of the houses. Today its presence is still noticeable, even if it has been buried: just stop in front of a stone manhole and youโ€™ll hear the water still flowing below.

To see Via Garibaldi as it is today you would have to wait until 1700, when the Sicilian architect Filippo designed the "straightening of Via Doragrossa", that is the alignment of all the buildings that overlook it, also evening the heights of the buildings and thus creating a beautiful perspective effect.

Is the ( ) really Russian?

It is a tasty appetizer or side dish popular in and around the world.

It consists of boiled vegetables and diced potatoes, all seasoned with mayonnaise sauce.
But there are many variations depending on local and family traditions.

But what about its name and origin?
One hypothesis traces the birth of the Russian salad to the Kingdom of Savoy in the nineteenth century. It is said that the court cook, on the occasion of the Tsar's visit to Italy at the end of the century, wanted to recreate a dish based on common vegetables in Russia such as potatoes and carrots. The creamy cream should have been reminiscent of snow.

๐Ÿ”Ÿ Do you want to know a little bit about the tenth stop of the Turin day tour?
It's and the !

Its name does not derive from the family, which for centuries ruled the city and eventually formed the Kingdom of Italy, but from the French region from which the dynasty originates.

Its being in the center of the district called reminds us of an ancient past. In fact, nearby there was the ancient Porta Segusina, which was the entrance from the west to the Julia Augusta .

The main attraction of the square is located right in the center: it is the Obelisk that was erected in 1853 to commemorate the Laws, named after the then Minister of Justice Giuseppe Siccardi. These laws abolished the privileges of the clergy, so much so that on the surface of the Obelisk it is written: โ€˜All are equal before the lawโ€™!

9๏ธโƒฃ Come on, follow me, I'll guide you to the ninth stop of our day in : Sanctuary of the Consolata (Santuario della Consolata).

Visiting the is to enter the era, in the splendor of marble and gold, but also to feel the spiritual of a city.
Believersโ€™ devotion for the Consolata was always great, so much so that believers had ex-votos, votive offerings made for the graces received.

The importance of this church is also clear from the fact that the greatest of the time, the true starchitects of the past centuries, were called to design, expand and make it even more beautiful.
