Effective from 1 January 2025, 10.00 hrs. (UTC+7), a foreign national (non-Thai national) who is currently in Pakistan and Afghanistan and wishes to apply for a Thai visa must apply and submit his/her application through the new online e-Visa platform at https://www.thaievisa.go.th/. It is no longer required for the applicant to submit his/her passport and original supporting documents in person at the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad. However, online payment is not available for this time. Payment must be made at the Royal Thai Embassy, Islamabad, Plots No.1 - 20 Diplomatic Enclave-1 Sector G-5/4 Islamabad.
After the e-Visa application has been approved, a confirmation email will be sent to the applicant. The applicant is kindly requested to print a copy of the confirmation email to present to the airline at the port of departure and to Thai immigration officials in Thailand.
The Embassy will continue to accept in-person visa application until Tuesday 24 December 2024. For further enquiries, please contact [email protected].

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to bar travellers coming from abroad from bringing any goods beyond $1,200 in value, it emerged on Monday.

An FBR notification dated December 6, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, proposed changes in the Baggage Rules, 2006, under Section 219 of the Customs Act, 1969.

It changed the definition of “commercial quantity” in the rules from a quantity of goods imported prima facie for trading or pecuniary gain and not for personal use or gift and imposed a value limit of $1,200.

It also defined the commercial quantity for mobile phones as the “quantity exceeding one phone other than the one in personal use

Various reports indicated that the immigration system was partially damaged, causing an initial halt to immigration processes.

Despite concerns about immigration operations, inbound international flights continued to arrive at Lahore airport without any diversions. Passengers affected by the incident were evacuated from the immigration area due to dense smoke, with operations temporarily shifted to the domestic lounge, as per the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Moreover, the incident caused delays in several Hajj and international flights.

The CAA announced that international flights were still operating from the domestic departure lounge, accommodating both Hajj and international flights through domestic facilities.

Regarding Pakistan’s Hajj pilgrimage plans, the Ministry of Religious Affairs announced the government’s plan to operate 11 special flights on the first day of the Hajj 2024 flight operation, set to transport 2,160 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry disclosed that the flight operation for Hajj 2024 would start on May 9 and continue until June 9. The schedule includes 670 passengers departing from Lahore across three flights, 330 from Karachi in two flights, 680 from Islamabad in three flights, 329 from Multan in two flights, and 151 from Sialkot in one flight.
