Le ragazze Triestine. Monumento per ricordare l’anno 1954 quando Trieste tornò all’Italia e tutte le ragazze triestine erano impegnate a cucire il tricolore. Nel 2004 in occasione del 50° anniversario del ritorno della città di Trieste all’Italia, è stato inaugurato, sulla Scala Reale della Riva Caduti per l’italianità di Trieste.

To visit the castle of Gorizia on top of the hill is always a nice experience, but the trees in blossom make it extra special. A Trieste su Piazza Oberdan si affaccia l’edificio conosciuto come “Palazzo Vianello” costruito nel 1904. Leopoldo Vianello era un ricco finanziere, proprietario di una casa di spedizioni, presidente della Banca Popolare triestina, interessato nel settore immobiliare, ed anche grande benefattore. Fece costruire lo stabile dell’architetto Ruggero Berlam. A completamento dell’opera, le iniziali del ricco possidente triestino furono poste in alto della facciata.Pochi sanno che il leone marciano, che campeggia altero sul fronte del palazzo, venne collocato in un secondo momento.

Montereale Valcellina

Bellissima escursione in Montereale Valcellina provincia di Pordenone

Questa volta sono andata nel Pordenonese per godermi i la vista sulle Alpi Carniche e Giulie ma anche la pianura friulana.
Partenza il parcheggio dell’osservatorio astronomico per proseguire lungo il sentiero Cai 987 verso la casera Rupeit e infine la Pala d’Altei a 1525 m. di altezza.

La vista è a dir poco spettacolare e osservo la pianura, i 3 fiumi Cellina, Meduna e Tagliamento, la diga del Lago di Barcis, i paesi Montereale e Maniago e la simpatica cima di Zuccul Supigna, vero e proprio piedistallo panoramico su tutta la pianura friulana.

In lontananza vedo la collina di Ragogna, il Matajur e anche l’inconfondibile Monte Nero con la sua cima a forma di c***o.

Tornando giù passo davanti a dei cartelli con delle belle poesie che ti fanno riflettere sul senso della vita e l’importanza dei luoghi naturali che il FVG ci offre.

Stanca ma molto soddisfatto torno a casa.

Sappada

Today we took a nice walk in the forests of Sappada where the source of the Piave River is. This small mountain stream will eventually become the great river that runs through the Veneto region and flows into the Adriatic Sea. It is the fifth largest river in Italy flowing into the sea and was the dividing line between Italian and Austrian Hungarian troops during the end of the First World War.

Sappada is not only a ski resort in Friuli Venezia Giulia, but still one of the few places where, in addition to Italian, an old Austrian dialect is spoken that has mixed with ladino. This special dialect has been preserved over the centuries because this mountain village was so isolated from the outside world. The dialect is also called Plodn /Plodarian. It was the language spoken by immigrants from Tyrol / Carinthia who had migrated here in search of work and fertile land.

Friuli Venezia Giulia is, as I previously wrote, a very good alternative destination in Italy. It lies next to the Austrian and Slovenian border.

You can fly to the San Marco Airport in Venice or the Airport of Treviso which both are about 120 km. (about 75 miles) from Udine. Also Friuli Venezia Giulia has its own Trieste Airport which is about 40 km. (25 miles) from the capital Trieste but also from Udine.

This is the best Italian region if you want to visit more countries in only one holiday. You can combine Friuli with visiting Austria, Slovenia or even Croatia. And it is close to Venice the beautiful capital of the neighbour region Veneto. You can combine your stay in Friuli, the region that offers it all, to a city strip to Venice.
