'd been looking for an art retreat/holiday to go on for a while and when I saw Lynette's itinerary combined with Live Like a Local Italy I was in!! There was NOTHING disappointing about this holiday. It was a dream - from the friendly English speaking driver collection at the airport to the return journey. Le Trente Tois B&B is serene, stylish, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. Julie's breakfasts deserve a mention. Home made freshly baked pastries and more every morning in her characterful kitchen. Bassano is fabulous, gentle and stunning at the same time with its dramatic river and the mountainous backdrop. Everything happened around our small group without us noticing, lunchtime deliveries to the studio, chilled prosecco, restaurants and pre dinner drinks were all organised, Phil and Lynette had it all in hand. Travelling alone and meeting new people was a worry I didn't need as they are GOOD at this!!. Our trip to Venice was perfect, train, boat, bar, a ramble in Burano and canal side restaurant- all pre booked and all we had to do was turn up and enjoy. The heat and crowds barely touched us. Travelling with Live Like a Local made everything easy. Being with, or having things organised, by someone who knows the territory means you get to see, eat and do the good stuff!! Thoroughly recommend.

What an amazing experience from beginning to end! Our luxury car was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived. Our driver, Daniele, was friendly and happy to answer our questions as we drove to our private apartment in the city centre of Bassano del Grappa. The apartment was within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, bars, hiking/walking trails, and the local winery. Since I am a wine geek the winery experiences were a must. This included a visit to Contra Soarda to sip delicious local wine amongst the vines, the harvest festival at Villa Angarano, and a day trip to Valdobbiadene to tour the vineyards of the Prosecco region. The Prosecco tour took us to four different vineyard sites, by the owner of the winery, where we drank Prosecco made from the grapes of those vines while taking in the spectacular views surrounding the vineyards— it was amazing! We also enjoyed a grappa tasting at Nardini during our stay. I highly recommend the day trip to Venice. A private boat tour is the way to go. A totally different perspective. We sipped Prosecco while taking in this beautiful historic city. What a treat! A day I will always remember and cherish. Our host Phil Clark was accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. He is also a good photographer and will capture the moment, so you can relax and enjoy the moment. This trip is one for the books. Phil, thank you for your exceptional hospitality!

Phil is an exceptional host and planner. He really gets you immersed in the experience you are having, whether it's dinner at a local spot or an amazing Prosecco tasting. It's a very special and extraordinary experience. It's fun to feel like an insider and a local when it's your first time visiting some of the towns. Phil has incredible relationships which translate to VIP status everywhere you go. My dad and I had such a fun time at the Art Retreat, which was punctuated with the best dinners, a fabulous boat ride in Venice and tons of local treasures. When you travel with Live Like A Local Italy, we will get you out of the regular tourists places and into the heart of the real Italy. Quiet streets and the slow pace of small town life in stunning towns. Meals in family run restaurants where the recipes have been handed down through generations. Not to fret though as we also know all the hot spots but done in a way to avoid the traps so often fallen into by most tourists!

Our favorite “snack” Cicchetti are small snacks or side dishes, typically served in traditional "bàcari" (singular bàcaro: cicchetti bars or osterie) in Venice, Italy. Common cicchetti include tiny sandwiches, plates of olives or other vegetables, halved hard-boiled eggs, small servings of a combination of one or more of seafood, meat and vegetable ingredients laid on top of a slice of bread or polenta,[1] and very small servings of typical full-course plates. Like Spanish tapas, one can also make a meal of cicchetti by ordering multiple plates. Normally not a part of home cooking, the cicchetti's importance lies not just in the food itself, but also in how, when and where they are eaten: with fingers and toothpicks, usually standing up, hanging around the counter where they are displayed in numerous bars, osterie and bacari that offer them virtually all day long. Venice's many cicchetti bars are quite active during the day, as Venetians (and tourists) typically eat cicchetti in the late morning, for lunch, or as afternoon snacks. Cicchetti are usually accompanied by a small glass of local white wine, which the locals refer to as an "ombra" (Wikipedia) 🇮🇹
