Venetian Heritage and @pomellato are proud to announce the conclusion of the restoration of the Monument to Doge Francesco Morosini (1619-1694) in the church of St. Stefano in Venice.
The monument was designed by architect Antonio Gaspari towards the end of the seventeenth century as a large rectangular tombstone, decorated with bronze elements representing armigerous triumphs sculpted by Filippo Parodi. Severely damaged by the exceptional high tide, the Acqua Granda, that struck Venice in November 2019, the monument has been restored thanks to the support of Venetian Heritage in collaboration with Pomellato who participated in the #supportvenice fundraising campaign launched by Venetian Heritage after the catastrophic event, in line with its mission to protect and promote the immense artistic heritage of the city.
The restoration work has been masterfully carried out by @uni.s.ve and @fucinaervas . Thanks to a collaboration with the Laboratorio di restauro e analisi scientifiche of @gallerieaccademiavenezia it has also been possible to carry out specific analysis and non-invasive investigation, which helped to interpret the monument’s conservative history, undocumented.

Venetian Heritage is happy to share with you the restoration of the 14 mt. long canvas by G.B. Tiepolo representing the biblical scene known as “Il Castigo dei Serpenti”. This restoration project has been made possible thanks to the funds raised on the occasion of the #tiepoloball , the benefit event organised by @venetianheritage and @dior in collaboration with @thegrittipalace . Hosted by Rai Veneto in the amazing #palazzolabia, the ball took place on May, 11 2019 to celebrate Venetian Heritage 20 Anniversary. The restoration of this painting is dedicated to Lawrence D. Lovett, founder of Venetian Heritage.
Once the restoration work is completed , the painting will be permanently exhibited at the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Room 6 on the ground floor, furnished thanks to another project financed by Venetian Heritage.
Venetian Heritage would like to extend its gratitude to all the friends and supporters who made it possible and wish you all happy Easter!

ENG --> In 1498 Mauro Codussi designed the two-stairway monumental staircase in the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista, one of the most important venetian “Scuole”: institution whose purpose was to serve as meeting place for charitable lay confraternities.
He managed to create an illusion of great depth even if he was forced to work in a narrow architectural space due to the closeness of the Scuola to rio di San Giovanni.
Since 2018 Venetian Heritage has decided to support the restoration of the monumental staircase as its precarious static condition required immediate structural works. This huge project has also been made possible thanks to the precious support of The Gritti Palace, generous and faithful partner of Venetian Heritage.
